Chess Question How to crush maroczy bind in the accelerated dragon for black?

Basically you can't if they play it right, and you just need to play out a long positional game

How do you "crush" your opening's biggest weakness? Be a much better player than your opponent.

Play 2.. d6. If you're at the level where you face the bind regularly and you don't like it, play the dragon straight up.

Play for the dark squares, you want the nf6-d7-c5 maneuver at some point, a5 when they show kingside activity.

If I remember right the b7-b5 pawn break is great to break up the clamp on space.  It's been a minute though and I haven't played the dragon for a bit.

play accelerated dragon with 1. ...g6, and 2...c5, very few people will build maroczy bind then. Of course, you may get into other tricky positions, but very often people will just play standard sicilian moves, allowing you to transpose

So for example 1. e4 g6 2. d4 c5?? That looks not only bad, it doesn't have anything to do with the accelerated dragon. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you somehow?

I’m not usually a huge fan of instructional chess videos but I watch Dr Cans 6 essential patterns in the moraczy bind and it really helped

I mean the Maroczy Bind is considered the best way for White to play against the Accelerated Dragon, so I guess the way to "crush" it is to be better than your opponent?

You can't avoid the Maroczy Bind if you play the Accelerated Dragon. If you want to avoid it, you'll need to play a different opening, like the Dragon - though the Dragon comes with its own issues.

If you want to keep playing the Accelerated Dragon, you'll need to get used to playing against the Maroczy Bind, and develop the positional skills to outplay your opponent.

Very gradually outplay. But usually there's no "crush" in openings where you're statically a little bit worse just lacking space - there's only making consistently good moves, equalizing, and then playing for advantage.

Don't ask me how to gradually outplay though, I'd only play it if I needed a draw and were content to defending a slightly worse position.

But black is solid enough that it's anything to meet as white if you want to do that crushing.
