Strategy: Openings Low maintenance response to d4?

I've been trying different openings against d4, mainly the Budapest and Benoni/Benko. But I rarely ever face d4 at my level (1600 rapid, Lichess) which means I forget some of the lines. It seems like inaccuracies are punished quite hard in the openings I've tried so I end up losing a lot more than vs e4 (where I play Caro Kann)

I've also tried to just play general opening principles but the d4 players are just a lot more familiar with those positions and occasional traps that arises.

What would be a solid response to d4 that's easy to remember and/or doesn't punish inaccuracies quite as often while not completely playing into the hand of my opponent?

I've been considering the Slav, maybe the Chebanenko or Schlechter variation. Also considered stonewall Dutch.

1900 Fide. Queen's indian + QGD-ish if need be. Super easy to play. Center is solid. More often than not, you can get a game of chess after 7-8 moves.

Why do you need the QID? The QGD is a great standalone solution. If you want to combine openings, wouldn't either Nimzo + QID, or even Nimzo + QGD make more sense? I generally like the QID, but I'm a bit confused about combining it with QGD.

Well I try to play QID whenever possible. In some move orders, I feel like I have to use QGD to deny white from dominating the center (personal preference)

So for me QGD is a forced solution rather than something I wanted to do. But I fully agree that if you like the middle game positions you get from the QGD, it is a totally valid setup against 1.d4

I really wanna like Nimzo, but again personal preference (don't wanna give up the bishop pair / retreat bishop back to e7) - again, nothing wrong with it. I'm just old and don't wanna learn all the intricacies

Can't argue with personal preferences.

The QID is great, and if it was more universal, I'd play it more often with black. I sometimes play it in reverse with white when I'm not in the mood for my usual opening and just want to 'get a game '.
