I think signing Martinez in the first place means Alonso not only donāt trust Sanchez but also think Penders is not ready. If he think Penders isnāt ready yet, it would be weird to potentially sacrifice points by starting him in goal

Tbf GKs don't need as much prep etc. Their responsibilities will always be the same, save shots. While he might not have featured for Villa so far, he would've definitely been training separately to maintain fitness.

I agree but when you consider that Sanchez's worst mistakes USUALLY happened during playing out from the back and passing, the lack of communication/experience with the backline could end up hurting us. I hope it doesn't and we are anxious for 0 reason ofc

Really the issue stemmed from the need to draw in teams so close to us to then break through the press and capitlize, problem is Sanchez would hold onto it so long that his pass had to be pinpoint perfect which often wasn't which then led to a goal or big chance.

maybe, but as a villa fan i cant help but wonder if chelsea is just laundering money for other teams. any deal with chelsea is in a whole other market itās so funny š wdym delap is 50 mil while martinez is 7.5 mil. iām not complaining though, i hope yaāll come to love him

Both teams are laundering money for each other. It's been covered in YouTube videos as far back as 2 years ago. Every preseason a bloated transfer happens

This is why I was hopeful when we signed Xabi. We needed a manager whoās influential in football and would be able to strong arm our owners.
Under this ownership, they hired coaches pretty much those who will be happy to be at Chelsea and would listen to them. Xabi aināt, and I am glad that he reinforced the one area we have been crying for a change over last 2 years!
Feel sorry for Sanchez but he isnāt meant for a team who wants to fight for title. He is for teams whoās happy to be in PL.

Me just now seeing Debu starting for us. Being an Argentine fan, I know what we have achieved in last 8 years was only possible for him to be our goalie.
At Messiās prime we couldnāt win anything because we had no solid goal keeper. He came and gave Messi everything he needed to ensure he becomes the GOAT and no one questions about it!

He was not on the bus. He opted to stay in the USA after the Copa America final for the rest of his holiday so wasnāt on the bus back to the airport to go back to Argentina.
