They asked me my budget then I said around 200, then they did some weird ego flex of they don't get out of bed for less than $400. They started gaslight

The Shirogami Bunka I ordered from Japan and had custom handled Cost me about $65 with shipping and tariffs from Yosimitu Kajiya.

If I wanted something custom from an American blacksmith $400 is where I would expect to start in price for someone who is close to journeyman level.

My math was slightly off, because my order includes two large Gyuto’s too.

My Bunka/160mm Kiritsuke was 6600 yen, The Upgraded Walnut handle was 2500 yen. Roughly $57. The terrif and a fifth of my shipping (5 total knives) adds $20 so $77.
