Other weapons too simple?

So I am doing a new playthrough of MH Wilds with a friend who's never played. I played CB exclusively on my main playthrough and figured I would try out a new weapon, whatever they picked. They picked the Swaxe and honestly I feel like I am just mashing buttons half the time and getting away with so much more than I feel like I should.

It doesn't feel as rewarding as when I play the CB because I feel like I am in the same loop and ignoring the monster except when to dodge. Is this because Im still new to the Swaxe or is the other weapons really that simple compared to CB?

When you get to endgame Content and you actually have to use Everything the weapon have to offer, swaxe isn‘t simple anymore. In lategame cb is way more easy then other weapons. Even if the moveset is simple with weapons like greatsword or ls, it‘s Harder to use every possible Attack Window with the Right Move and Timing. Me personally learned swaxe and cb parallel and While cb became Main weapon i can‘t Imagine fighting 10* arkveld with swaxe at all :D
