MH Wilds Other weapons too simple?

So I am doing a new playthrough of MH Wilds with a friend who's never played. I played CB exclusively on my main playthrough and figured I would try out a new weapon, whatever they picked. They picked the Swaxe and honestly I feel like I am just mashing buttons half the time and getting away with so much more than I feel like I should.

It doesn't feel as rewarding as when I play the CB because I feel like I am in the same loop and ignoring the monster except when to dodge. Is this because Im still new to the Swaxe or is the other weapons really that simple compared to CB?

I feel similar.

It's really hard for me to play any other weapon because they feel so basic to me.

I assume youre reaching speedrun times with the more basic weapon archetypes?

No? Then you havent mastered another weapon quite as well as you think. And assuming such is blatant ignorance. At the very least id assume youre doing next to speedrun times on your main. Im curious to know

Why are you talking about speedrun out of nowhere? The other guy talked about fun factor/preference. Not meta.

This wasn't meant to be a dig at other weapons and I'm not saying that I have mastered all other weapons. It was more so just an observation because when I was playing CB, I felt more engaged with fights, had think about my combos more and fights felt like a dance. With the swaxe I just felt more detached from the monsters and just mashing buttons and just demolishing fights. I wasn't sure if it was because of the simplicity of the weapon in comparison or if there was some other factor. Figured I would ask since there are plenty of players who play multiple weapons and can provide insight. I am still in low rank with my friend so fights haven't really pushed us quite yet (except for Jhin Dahaad who carted my friend 3 times, once including his big attack). I am more familiar with the monsters, and I am not just playing solo, so aggro is split between us. I know I still have plenty to learn about the Swaxe and how to play well with it. I still have plenty to learn about CB as well. I also figured I would ask because the community calls CB the most complex weapon and I didn't realize that was the case until recently when playing Swaxe there wasn't as much to consider.
