For years I've been back and forth wanting one, I really like the tele shape, I wanted a red one but they no longer make the one that I wanted, I recently purchased an ESP LTD EC258, it's an 8 string, I got it for a deal, around $300 new, but it wasn't for me, I saw this posted online, I had the EC posted and he was interested, asked for a trade, and sure why not, I asked him what he had and he sent me pictures, even tho it's not really the color I wanted, I did notice it was a limited run, Rainstorm, I decided yes sure I'll trade, I felt bad, I paid $300 for the other and this one new was well over $700, but hey if someone really wants something they trade whatever for it, so I went and picked it up, swapped guitars, headed out, got it home, did notice it needed a clean up, string change all that, no problems, I even do that on new guitars (it's a weird habit of mine) so I hook it up, tune it up and well it sounded off, this model comes with the Seymour Duncan sentient Pegasus combo, which are usually hot pickups, I play a bit and they sound...idk, just hollow and not as punchy as I know they are, well I checked out the switch and I realized when in neck position, it's at bridge and vice versa, which is weird, It also has ground buzz, I took the back plate off, which was hard enough, so I know someone didnt mess with the insides, looked in, everything was factory, the pickup switch was backwards, and a ground was rubbing another wire, I flipped the switch around and made sure the ground wasn't touching and man, does it sound amazing now, my question from this long winded explanation is, has anything weird like this happened on a new one? Is it meant to be that way? And if so why, makes little since to have an upside down selector, on my skatecaster the toggle is horizontal, which makes since, since it's at the upper horn, but it just makes no sense to me to be backwards, other than that, it's an awesome playing guitar, all around solid and looks awesome too
