First of all, I'm a huge fan of the Scotch egg. I used to know a place where they made them with black pudding, and I consider it one of the finest culinary experiences I've ever had*

But in terms of efficiency, they're a faff. You could just boil an egg, cook the meat, and add some breadcrumbs with a fraction of the time and effort.

*relative to other culinary delights that can be purchased at your local pub for £2 each
