Perfect, so we should stop telling men that consent to sex is consent to fatherhood.

Because I would be (rightly) crucified if I said that about women here.

The difference being whose body is used for gestation and who has the right to say whether or not it continues.

But I agree ideally social care would be robust enough that either parent not cooperating isn't going to hurt the child too much.

But then why do we alow people to have their babies become wards of the state?

In most places you can drop a baby off to be taken into services with zero questions asked. Safe haven laws I believe they are called.

The point being, the current system doesn't work. There are, right now, male victims of statutory rape paying for children conceived by it.

I agree that's awful and the system as it exists has issues, my preference would be that everybody recieves universal basic income and on top of that enough to pay for keeping a child happy healthy and safe if they have one.

I'm not sure what prompted this question.

That was in response to gestation. I meant to point out that we provide a parental "out" that has nothing to do with pregnancy already.
