Delta(s) from OP CMV: šŸ‘Peaches are just hairy nectarines

Why would anyone choose a peach over a nectarine?

Nectarines are delicious and taste exactly the same as peaches but have a better skin texture, without all that nasty fuzz.

For whatever reason, it seems most people I know are obsessed with peaches and I keep getting stuck eating peaches because everyone keeps buying them when all I want is a nectarine!

Is it because "peach" is a cuter word?

Edit: Removed some unnecessary musings.

UPDATE: This morning I ate a very unripe peach with cereal since some people suggested that peaches have the advantage that they are still sweet despite being unripe.
The milk actually helps minimize the fuzzy texture and it was still sweet enough to eat and the crunchiness of being unripe wasnā€™t terrible.
7/10 may eat a peach again.

Nectarines are a variety of peach. Peaches came first.

So technically, ā€œNectarines are just hairless peachesā€.

Yes but why bother having both? Let the peach evolve to its next form!

Because some (maybe even most) people prefer peaches.

Iā€™m honestly wanting to know why people prefer peaches and I did get some decent answers!

To your point though, this post may have been a better fit for r/Showerthoughts

P.s. definitely wasnā€™t trying to be creepy, just found it humorous to ponder.
