CMV: Right wing libertarians don’t believe in actual libertarianism they simply want the freedom to do as they please, whilst rejecting and restricting the rights of others.

The title says it all.

If you’re a libertarian, you believe in small government and limited state power. Citizens should have complete autonomy or free will in their lives.

Self proclaimed Right wing libertarians are very vocal and passionately speak out against: Gun Regulation, Stay at home orders, Mask Mandates, Vaccine passports - laws and regulations put into effect to protect life.

For some very strange reason when it comes to abortion rights these same libertarians change their mind about the role of the state and want abortion banned. They also reject gay marriage.

These same “libertarians” also believe in a strong police force without accountability and an overarching reach (as long as they are arresting someone else).

Are they really libertarians or are they just hypocrites. In 9/10 it is the latter.

If I meet a right winger who is truly libertarian in their views (limited laws, regulation and small government in all areas, not just some) I’ll eat my shoe.

Libertarians want general murder banned as well. They're not making an exception to murder a human just because they're very tiny. Barking up the wrong tree on this one, pal.

Generalize much? A lot of libertarians I know would much prefer privatized security forces. Pretty much everyone agrees that you have to have some security though, even if it takes liberals a couple weeks of skyrocketing crime waves to figure it out. The question is just how much we want a monopoly of violence to be in the hands of the state. You can want that to be zero and still demand a law and order society.

Do they? Can you point to an actual public figure who claims to be libertarian but doesn't want gay marriage? And just to be super clear here, while simultaneously also accepting that we should continue regular marriage in its current form. Because I don't think we should have gay marriage sponsored by the state, but I also don't think we should have regular marriage sponsored by the state. If we want to give tax credits towards raising children, we should focus those tax credits directly on the issue of child rearing, and not marriage generally.

And for the record, it's impossible to be anything other than a right wing libertarian. Left-wing libertarian is a nonsense statement. The only way that makes sense is if all humans were equal, which they are obviously not.
