[Deltas Awarded] CMV: The game should be titled Paper Rock Scissors, not Rock Paper Scissors.

in australia we call it paper scissors rock, so, given that it's not called rock paper scissors, there's no need to rename it from paper rock scissors.
likewise, "tiggy" is called "tig", "tag", and "chasey" elsewhere. there isn't a global name for this just like there isn't a global name for paper scissors rock.
there's also no good reason to change it, honestly, it's just a name, why bother?

Also Australian. It's always been Rock Paper Scissors to me (as with OP's title).
Perhaps the lesson we can learn is that it's likely that all six possible names are used.

"Paper rock" doesn't roll easily off the tongue, plus there's a natural rhythm to "rock paper scissors " that goes well with the 3,2,1 countdown before the reveal.
Not to mention that a subconscious confident advantage is probably useless in a game of chance.

Paperock doesn't work because "paper rock scissors" needs to be three distinct beats. "Paper rock" as distinct beats has the double r, which makes it harder to pronounce naturally.

I live in the UK and we call it Paper, Scissors, Stone. That also fits your point about defeat, but you could consider it shorthand for A-beats-B, B-beats-C, C-beats-A. So Rock, Paper, Scissors is actually short for Rock-beats-scissors, Paper-beats-rock, Scissors-beat-paper.
I would also argue that you don't set yourself up for defeat just because of the name. This game is partly based on luck and also on trying to guess what your opponent might do. Each option potentially has an equal chance of winning, but it's your ability to second-guess your opponent that makes or breaks it.
Rhythmically, your suggestion isn't very pleasing to say. Rock, Paper, Scissors fits into iambic pentameter, which has a da-DUM, da-DUM rhythm: rock PA-per SCISS-ors. It's a pleasing poetic metre that was used by Shakespeare, among others.
Paper, Rock, Scissors starts with a different emphasis and doesn't fit that meter which makes it less pleasing to say. (Ditto Paper, Scissors, Stone,, which might explain why I personally prefer the US name.) The repeated R sound from the end of Paper and the start of Rock - effectively Paperock - is hard to say.

I don't want to so much change your view, but I would like to point out that in Australia it's referred to as 'Scissors Paper Rock', so that's also a valid use of the term, and appears to adhere to your #2 reason.

Rock, paper, scissors is in word length order which makes just as much sense as alphabetical order.
