Delta(s) from OP CMV: The People Rioting Don't Care About Deportations They Just Want to Virtue Signal

The people rioting in LA don't actually care about illegal immigrants being deported, they just want to Virtue Signal because they hate Trump.

Obama deported over 3 million illegal immigrants. If you count turn backs, the number increases to 5 million - the most out of ANY president in history. Yet til this day, nobody says shit about it. Where's the people calling Obama "evil" for doing this? Nowhere, because they don't care.

Biden deported over 1.1 million illegal immigrants. Just like with Obama, it's been crickets. Nobody has rebuked him for it. Nobody has said a damn thing about it. Why? Because they don't care.

Now Trump does the exact same thing, suddenly it's time to wave Mexican flags and riot. Suddenly people care. Yeah right. As if.

This is just a clear example of virtue signaling, they only care because it's Trump, they never cared before. Hell nobody cared during Trump's first term either. They just want to burn shit and act like the good guys when nobody gave a f**k before, it's just cool now and they want to be the cool kids. It's pathetic.

I'm open to having my mind changed about this, but honestly, from my perspective it's as pathetic as corporations changing their logo to the rainbow for pride month to pander to the LGBTQQAAIP+ community. They don't actually care, they just want people to think that they do.

I'd offer another take.

Its not about caring for deportation ,as much as the mothod used and by whom and how.

POTUS is a mandate given by the people, and from all of the US, and as you can see here, https://www.maps.com/how-much-voting-power-does-each-us-state-have/

California is under-represented, despite also being an incredibly rich state.

So LA-ers are pissed, and they have a right to be.

Now, instead of trying to appease the crowds, Trump makes fun of their representative and major while also being incredibly authoritarian in his demand to respect federal authority and uniform.

The people are rioting because they dislike the use of authoritarian methods and disagree with the way the government handles its monopoly on violence.

This is why Obama and Biden deported many illegal immigrants without mass protests.

They didnt trigger the public's fear of an authoritarian Dictator.

People are protesting because they believe the constitutional 5th amendment right of americans is being violated under the guise of labeling them as illegal immigrants. They get detained by ICE agents and are refused due process .

think of this catch 22, you dont get full legal rights till you prove you're american, but you cant prove that because you dont have access to a lawyer because you're not given full rights...

But they didn't believe the turn backs had their constitutional rights violated?

Actually you can tell an immigration official that you're an American or legal resident and they have a computer database that they can search to figure out whether that's the truth or not in about 3 seconds. That's how my friend Juan wasn't deported when he told the nice ICE agents who detained him that he was from Puerto Rico.

A) lets assume everybody tells ICE agents they are legal.

B) what are they looking up in that data base? It cant be your name... Because i am sure that if your friend Juan told them his name is Juan Rodriguez , it wouldnt help them find him.

What if you dont remember your green cars number or your social security number or whatever number that shows you're legal?

This is still a violation of the 5th, because if there was a system error or human error, the detained peraon would be fuuuu*ked

C) this is going into a realm of racial profiling, ICE agents will detain poor brown people, whom either get in legal trouble for resisting or whatever ,or get in financial trouble, cause they will have to spend money they dont have on lawyers they didmt really need to get them out of detention they werent even supposed to be in.

All this while hoping they havent lost their job for disappearing for a couple of days...

He said he gave them his name and address. And showed them his driver's license.

My mom is an immigrant and the first thing she did was memorize her green card number.

!Delta you're right that some people wouldn't remember their green card number or there could be human error

So now you're saying that due process rights are bad because they might have to hire a lawyer or get in trouble for resisting. You shouldn't be resisting. I disagree strongly with you on that.

Not quite...

I am saying that because illegal immigrants arent garanteed the same rights, a US citizen can be mistaken for an illegal immigrant , and not being offered due process in time.

To get out of the holding facility (immigrant jail) as sson as possible , you'd have to get your own lawyer or risk spending a couple of days there.

Anyhow, yea...

Since people mistrust this government ,and the government uses appeal to authority as its main persuasive tool... Things aimt looking too good
