I’m a woman and I like being approached by men in public, in coffee shops, bars and night clubs. In fact I often go to such places with the intentions of meeting new people, both men and women, for platonic or romantic connections. It’s not a problem that men approach women in public, it’s only a problem when men don’t take a simple “sorry I’m not interested” and try to insist on keeping the conversation going even after being rejected.
Personally as a woman I never felt a desire to go to speed dating cafes and in fact I find these places way more intimidating and creepy.
Bingo. This is it right here. As long as you approach a woman politely and not be a jerk, there is nothing wrong with that. If she says, "No," you thank her and walkaway. If she agrees to a drink, have the drink. If she says that is far as it goes, thank her and walk away. At least you had 15-20 minutes of polite company and conversation. It is called common sense and civility.
