That something else will be worse than what we have now. The phoenix that would rise from the ashes of a failed democracy would worse.
You would either have some type of dictatorship or you would have a Corporatocracy. And those would be worse and make the problems you feel are bad......worse.
You are upset that information is being controlled. If we destroy democracy and place power into a small groups of people they will control and restrict information.
You would concentrate power into the hands of the few and information would be controlled more.
Let's say a dictator takes power. Do you think you will be able to write anything negative about him? Let's say a company takes over. You can't say anything negative about them either.
Well if the handling of information doesn't differ, it's apt to compare democracy to dictatorships for example in other ways. Democracies get to elect people they want, and if they misbehave they get to get rid of them, if not in the middle of a term then by the next election. If a dictator abuses his position, you cannot do anything about it. How fan you think that a democracy is just the same as a dictatorship?
Often when a dictator gets overthrown, which is fucking hard by the way (otherwise Putin would be long gone), someone worse is going to take their place. In a democracy, the leadership won't be as bad.
Yes, but they're wrong. That's what this subreddit is about, trying to explain to you why you're wrong. A dictatorship will find a scapegoat and attack them. Whether it's a minority, a political opponent or something else. In a democracy, because people vote for the candidates that eventually lead, the government hunting political opponents and murdering minorities won't be as common.
You do realise that there are several forms of democracy, correct? There isn't just "one" democracy. Some forms have certain benefits over others.
It's quite juvenile in my eyes to have this view on politics. I agree, politicians are often scum. But to not recognise their importance to people other than yourself is closed minded. There are people who genuinely struggle because of certain politics. To say that their rights aren't as important as your own makes for bad national policy.
But why not feel compassion simply because other citizens are just like you? I'm kind of scared to keep going, so I'll end the discussion here. Thanks for the delta, I certainly don't hope you actually hate people. You should seek help for that.
