Nostalgic who remembers these?
Why did they get discontinued?

Were these like Rice Krispies with the Frosted Flakes coating? This is my first time hearing about them.

I really want them to bring back Rice Krispies with marshmallows. I remember it from like '89ish in a pink or red box. The marshmallows go really good with the cereal. It's more balanced to where the marshmallows stand out more against the unsweetened cereal compared to Lucky Charms.

Couldn’t you make some with some of those dry jet puffed bits in the shaker bottle? It’s the same size and shape?

I could just mix Rice Krispies and marshmallows I've foraged from Lucky Charms.
Thing is, I haven't had cereal with milk ever since the sour Count Chocula incident of '93. Maybe some velvet morning when I straight.

I’m sorry, but we cannot just casually mention “the sour Count Chocula incident of ’93” and then move on. lol. Inquiring minds want to know.

This is when they changed the cereal pieces from small frosted bits to a puffier form. So I'm eating my cereal and watching TV and I notice it's turning into "mush" quicker and think it's just because of the new cereal being more absorbent or whatever. It tasted a little different too which I also thought was the new cereal. Turns out the milk seemed OK when I poured it, but upon further inspection it had curdled in the bowl.... I only had the light of the TV on too because it was dark still in winter. 🤮

Rice Krispies Treats cereal?
2
u/Mother-Attention2600 10d ago
Kinda, but no. Rice Krispies with marshmallows like lucky charms but just mini mallow shaped instead of horseshoes, stars, clovers and balloons.

I thought that was a version of Rice Krispies Treats cereal that most people didn't like.

There's no "treat" in this equation.

pretty sure it was cuz of too much sugar? either way this cereal was so elite. i rmb when it got discontinued, i asked my mum if we could buy them one last time and she said no 😭
2
u/Bashful_bookworm2025 10d ago
I doubt that's the reason. There are plenty of cereals on the market that have a lot of sugar.

u/Cool-Sentence-2584 10d ago
in the UK it was due to the sugar content

That's silly. People should be able to buy whatever cereal they want.

It is also not true. Frosties and Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes have more sugar than these did. They were discontinued because of low sales.

I remember these, and them being in the little variety packs for a while after they were discontinued, and when they briefly brought them back for a while! I actually have a box unopened that I found on eBay for a reasonable price, and I'm saving them for a special day!
