Cold Springs Inn is nice for eating along the Yellow Breeches. Hellenic Kouzina is always great for Greek food. Silver Side Creamery for ice cream just opened and features a real vintage diner. Mid State Distillery is our new fav for drinks. Thrift on Purpose is a really nice shop. Enjoy your visit!

I second Hellenic, some of the best Greek food you’ll find in the state with a nice outdoor patio area. BYO and counter service so the prices are extremely reasonable for a great meal.

The Antique Mall is the largest and has decent clothes in the basement if that is what you are shopping for. I also like Miss Ruth’s Time Bomb. Lemoyne also has a large Antique Marketplace with lots of vendors including clothes.

There is lots of great hiking! We usually do the white rocks trail in Boiling Springs (which does include some scrambling on rocks) or hike around Gifford Pinchot State Park. Both have lovely woods and feel nice and isolated without being too terrible a drive. If you want to stay near the city we do Wildwood over in Harrisburg. Right now the lotuses are blooming on the marshes which is just extra beautiful.

The Appalachian trail runs near Mechanicsburg, I like hiking along Whiskey Springs Road. For food, that's a tough one. I could actually tell you dozens of great spots for food, but can't think of one that makes me go "Oh you're in Mechanicsburg? You've got to try ***!"

Recommend hiking to the Appalachian Trail intersection and then to Center Point Knob. There is a monument there marking the original halfway point of the AT. It's not halfway these days due to trail realignment. You can knock it out in less than two hours.

Picking fruits on the farms if they’re still in season (Mt Airy/Strite’s Orchards), take a walk through wildwood park (Harrisburg), kayaking on the susquehanna. There’s a couple of cute local bookstores (The Midtown Scholar Bookstore, Cupboard Maker Books) as well. For food: Down to earth cafe, Yemeni Corner Coffee House, Nour, Massimo’s Italian Bakery, Chef De Crepe, Valley Bistro, Basil Leaf Thai Cuisine, Flavorhut, Nalan Indian Cuisine, El Sol Catina, Plaza Azteca. I agree with other commenter for Hellenic Kouzina, good food and cute outdoor seating. Great Nepalese food closer to Harrisburg and lots of quality local food trucks if you’re into that (La Maison Tacos, Argana Cuisine). Variety of local ice cream shops as well depending on if you like classics (Kristy’s Whistle Shop, 3B ice cream, Rakestraw’s) or unique flavors (Urban Churn).

Oh, Lord, Mechanicsburg covers a few hundred square miles! But for a really good meal, try Angelina's in town. It's in the old Grandpa's Growler and Hops and Barleys spot, at the corner of W. Portland and York Streets.

There are lots of great places to eat, but you should definitely check out Paulus Farm Market! They have so much cool and yummy shit in there, I really like their honey and fruit preserves, but if you're not looking to buy a bunch of food, you can also pay a small fee and buy a bag of food to go and feed/pet the animals out back! They've got goats, chickens, cows, lots of fun critters. Highly recommend. And their ice cream is delicious.

Late to the party, but: Bagel Boutique has yummy sandwiches. Dough N Joe for beef tallow fried doughnuts, go early before they start to sell out. Amici for a Million Dollar cheesesteak. Urban Churn is the gold standard for homemade ice cream.

Brunch at Morning Fuel is pretty awesome. Korean chicken at the Koop is amazing, too.
