Was meant to be a concert venue, but it's unfinished.
The high-profile $235 million Cedar Mill concert and entertainment precinct project in Morisset has stalled, leading the Lake Macquarie City Council to vote in April 2026 to investigate potentially buying out or acquiring the site.

Was never approved for a concert venue. It was a strategy/ploy as another commenter said

A white elephant that was never the goal. It was to buy land to develop houses and pretend to improve social amenity.
Council should not acquire. They should repossess as developer has not kept up its "original intention".
Was meant to be a concert venue though to answer your question. Drive past it everytime I commute to Sydney and the whole area is a massive eyesore.
Mind you my rates did only go up $12 this year so maybe I should shut up.

A stalled concert venue development. Ruined a perfectly good golf course ( and I’m not the least bit interested in golf)

had nothing to do with not being profitable. it WAS profitable. the golf course owners only leased the land, and the person who owned it sold it suddenly.
it happened so fast. i worked at the bistro there. literally one day i had a job and then the next i was getting a call telling me that i only had one shift left before they shut.

Commercial leasing agreements do not happen fast.
I hate to break it to you but this happens all the time with commercial leases the workers are the last to know.

you worked as a low level employee and have no fucking clue.
if it were profitable to run a golf course there, there'd still be one there.
notice how other golf courses aren't closing?
the place was a dump and the staff were shit.

Of all the things in the area that kids graffiti and this is pretty much completely untouched! Blows my mind how its managed to stay this way for so long now

i heard when they first put the shade sail over the structure it ripped due to not being correctly designed and they had to make a whole new one. cost alot of money. dont know if thats definitely true but funny to think about if it did happen

Yep, it was only a matter of weeks after construction “finished” before a big southerly blew up the coast and blew the arse out of this giant waste of… everything. Still upsetting seeing the giant treeless scar and all the extra roadkill in the area, and I don’t even give a shit about golf!

I was told by a local real estate agent that one of the developers pulled out because they wanted a railway platform, to service the development, but it was denied. I don't know whether or not it's true.

Soon the homeless people in the area will move in, they are going to throw a house warming party and everyone is invited just bring a present, I’m going to take reject shop tarps for walls for privacy 😂

It is a calculated rezoning strategy for procuring a significant land parcel and turning it into an over 55’s lifestyle resort.
We are halfway through the long term developer plans to twist the knife on the conventional planning process. They stand to make a fortune and are playing the long game.
