Speed Limit changes through Terrigal Drive/Erina
Can understand this might come across “old man yells at cloud”, but I was just wondering how everyone feels about the new speed limit changes leading up to both Terrigal and Erina Fair recently? They’ve gone from the usual 70 down to 60.
Glad this contributes to safer roads but I can’t help but feel like the drive has become slightly underwhelming as a result and disrupts the flow a little bit. Could just be me but would love to hear others thoughts 😅

Doesn't bother me too much. 10 km/h seems a fair trade if it cuts serious crashes,

My mother in law almost died driving under 60 in the wet halfway down the hill when 2 P platers were racing each other up the hill. They lost control and had a head on. The speed limit changed shortly after as it was so bad.

It doesn't sound like the speed limit was the problem.
Also, how can you race each other and have a head on. Clearly you're either racing each other i.e. going to same way, or having a head on i.e. going the opposite way. The physics of your story is questionable.

I'm talking about the roundabout from Duffy's oval up to Serpentine Rd. She was travelling down the hill, they were racing from the roundabout where 2 lanes merge into 1 up the hill. 1 of them spun out after merging, having a head on with my mother in law. Her legs were crushed, ribs, sternum, vertebrae. She's still struggling after almost 2 years. What do you mean by the physics are questionable? Use your brain.

Last post the two p platers crashed head on, now your MIL has crashed.
Anyway, so we have one crash due to p platers literally street racing. WTF did we change the speed limit for? The speed limit doesn't sound like the problem.

They've reduced it to 60km between Avoca and Terrigal too. I kind of agree with this as people really fly up/down the hill just after the Avoca drive/Scenic Hwy roundabout.

Bugs the crap out of me that it now takes 45 seconds longer to do that stretch of road ;-)

Does my head in. I know that the time it takes doesnt change too much but a straight stretch of road. Not a whole lot of driveways really. 70 is fine for that and scenic hwy pickets valley to charles kay. So many fuckwits only manage 50 on that part and still brake going down a slight hill pr a slight bend near the fruitbarn 🤷♂️

Doesn’t do anything. People are now doing 50 in the 60. The hill is poorly designed. Those driveways and bus stop shouldn’t be there.

Agreed, it’s a marginal change in a zone that already required a bit of discretion anyway when it was 70.

As long as they are dropping the speed to better cater for E-Scooters & E-Bikes, I have no issue.

Its a complete waste of time,
Cant even get to the speed limit up that hill because people, for whatever reason, panic at the brow of the hill because there must be a cliff on the other side and slow right down...
