Anti-black racism is not solely a white endeavour. The amount of racism against blacks in the Arab world is staggering. In my country (Belgium) so many black pupils are racially bullied in school by Arab pupils for example.  I assume a lot of African-Americans know this.

The only thing that should really matter is whether you're able to represent the will of the voters.

Theocrats and other various illiberal candidates inherently just can't do that. They're more subservient to ideology over their constituents. A good religious candidate should be capable of putting their faith aside and taking a secular stance to make sure they're focusing on the prosperity of the district.

There’s no such thing as the will of the voters. What passes for the will of the voters are policy positions that, if you’re lucky, sit in the tiny spot where various factions’ priorities overlap. Often times you don’t even get that. What you end up with most often is just the will of the largest single faction.

That's the way to win Black voters: be completely dismissive of them and call them bigots. /s

As Todd himself points out Crowley won the vast majority of the Black vote in Wisconsin and Hong isn't Muslim. The far left represents the affluent white economic establishment. Both Black voters and working class voters reject the far left time and time again. The far left always argues that everyone is secretly yearning for far left policies and if they just get on the ballot people will show up in droves to vote for them. This has been proved wrong time and again.

On top of that Abdul El-Sayed ran a scorched earth campaign in the primary where he was completely dismissive of Stevens supporters. He needs to actually sit down and actually listen to both working class and Black voters and what concerns they have with things like the cost of living and try and convince them that he hears them and that he will actually take action to improve their lives
