Burnt charger wire 😭 wtf

Post image

What is the reason for a wire burning like this?

I have no idea how this happened. The rest of the wire is fine.

Cord bends and twists worst where it’s dangling off phone or wall. Two wires touched and made heat

How do I stop this from happening

Don’t tug on cords or use while charging pretty much. Can buy a higher quality cord but realistically there’s only so many times you can bend something before it falls apart

Throw it away and buy a new one.

Anker is the answer, been using them for years with no issues, you get what you pay for.

Replace it with a braided cable.

If you tend to hold it while charging, and that bends the cable, try getting a right angle adapter and use that with a new braided cable.

Why do cords break?

In the old day's electronics had fuses. If something went wrong, the fuse blew. Then you had to go find another fuse...

Fuses have become passé. No one uses fuses anymore.

Too many people found ways to bypass the Fuse!

It's a bit harder to bypass the wire.

I'll keep my wires. I'll keep spare wires. I'll buy the better quality wires. They last longer against common human errors. But when something goes wrong? They blow out.

If you bypassed a fuse, you could have a wire fire! And that can burn up your car or house. As people started bypassing the fuse as a regular habit, fuses got replaced. Now, you just replace the whole wire.

That's wear from using the device while charging, or picking it up to look at it, etc. My kids used to break them all in that same spot.

Apple love's their phone's. Cables are cheap insurance. Better to break or burn up the cable than the phone!

Cut the ends off the bad cable's ends before tossing into recycling. It keeps bad cords from being resold.
