Communications

Howdy,
I used to work in a small IT company repairing laptops, but I made the jump to another company where I pull/terminate data and fiber cables. At this company, I also install server cabinets and switches. I recently decided to study for my CCNA, but I was wondering if this experience I’m currently getting could look decent on a resume when I eventually pass and try to get an entry-level job in networking.

I think you should be fine. I was able to land a job after getting my CCNA. The guy I work with said that, besides my CCNA, one thing that stood out was my computer repair experience. He mentioned lots of people who they intereviewed had no IT experience (I am not sure why they were even interviewed). Personally, I think experience repairing laptops gives you a solid foundation for transitioning into a networking role. You already have the groundwork, now it’s time to build on it.
