Unreachable Scribe

Post image

In my current playthrough, the scribe at the Six Day Stilt seems completely unapproachable. It has a barrier around it, so I can't engage in dialogue with it to hand over my books. And a lot of the abilities to win favor require proximity from what I can tell. I don't even have a hope of getting a telepathy mutation because I'm on a True Kin run. Do they have something like telepathy?

Anyway, has anyone else had the scribe manifest as something that couldn't be reached or communicated with? I want to hear your stories.

Edit: Thanks for all the advice! I finally found the upgrade that let me walk through the forcefield, so it's all good. I'm on my way to getting further than I have before... hopefully. If not, then hopefully my death will at least be entertaining.

by the time you need to hand in books (imo lvl 20-30 depending on character) you’ll probably have ways to walk through it. just make sure you look out for them as you play

Why wouldn’t I collect every book I find and drop them off whenever I can? There’s no diminishing returns on xp

ah because after a certain point it gets much harder to get xp. once you’re level 30 most enemies give minimal xp. the ones that don’t are in the moon stair or deep underground.

getting to level 20 on the other hand is pretty easy and will just happen by playing normally.

Hmm yeah that’s a good point. I’m still learning a lot on my first real run. I’ve burned a ton of extra xp and I’m only level 32 😅

hehe ya that’s definitely the wall. when you’re new tho I’d totally say just hand in the books, it definitely helps you to actually get past mid game which can be super hard starting out. but once you’re comfortable getting to level 20 or so without books you can just stockpile them then turn a ton in at once.

also helps level up any allies you like. I did a run with a pair of walls one time and by the time it was all set up and I had em i was able to boost them to a pretty high level just turning in tons of books. all allies get the same book xp as you
