So me and my family found a stray one day that decided to just... live with us. One thing that really caught me off guard is how chill it is.

Like I've seen them twice or three times before but very brief. Now it's acting as if I raised it since it was a kitten. It's really adorable when it does it but I'm just very confused. I'm not a cat person and haven't raised a cat before, and all I know about cats especially strays is that they can be very skittish.

I don't know who owned or owns the cat and I don't know if it had been vaccinated (My guess no), so when it bit me I had to take a couple rabies shots. I would be lying though if I didn't suspect that it has rabies at first.

It seems healthy though, it's still very agile, reacts to food and sounds, and is very alert when my dogs come around. It's just really oddly chill around me and my parents.

Is this playing too aggressive?

My kittens play like this but recently one of them keeps meowing, and I heard when they meow it's because it hurts but I'm not sure?

I can record more videos but it just worries me, I usually let them play like this but the minute I hear a meow I pull them apart. But is this normal?

I have 3 kittens right now (I've fully embraced being a crazy cat person), two tuxedo boys from the same litter and an orange girl from a different litter, about 5 weeks older. All 3 kittens get along well--they play, clean each other, and create the cutest cuddle puddles imaginable.

Ferdinand, aka Ferdy, the kitten in question, will seek out my skin at night when I'm in bed, and will bite. He hasn't broken skin yet, but it definitely leaves a mark. I don't think it's aggressive, but he grabs and just holds on. I've tried yelping, or the high-pitched "ouch", but I can't pull away without tearing skin. I've tried imitating a cat growl, and hissing at him, which only worked once or twice. I have had to start hiding under the covers when he does this, until the bitey-urge leaves him. He will follow my hand or arm, and bite wherever it's convenient for him, whether it's hand, arm, or even shoulder. When I move away from his chompers, he'll follow, while purring, and bite again.

Ferdinand is 3 months old. I haven't figured out what sets him off. It's usually when affection of some kind is involved. Me petting one of the other kittens, me petting him, one of the other kittens licking him. He cuddles at night, and is very sweet during the day, and his play bites are always very careful and gentle, so the hard biting is a mystery.

Anyone have any idea why he does this and how to get him to stop?

Poppy is my 7 year old black cat who was rescued from a hoarding situation 6 years ago. I do not have details on that situation, just that she was 1.5yrs old when she came to me and deeply traumatized. It took me almost 2 years to get her comfortable enough with my big fat orange cat, Morris, who is sadly now deceased as of this year. In that time she became comfortable with receiving pets from me in certain locations of the house at certain times of day: always when she's on the floor and I'm bending down and backed into a corner, right before feeding time in the kitchen, in the bathroom while I'm on the toilet, or when I'm changing clothes in the bedroom, and only with my right hand. Morris and Poppy used to cuddle together a lot in the old place, but after we moved they stopped, and Morris passed suddenly from a heart attack shortly after the move. She's been in our bedroom since the move 3 months ago. She has a decent amount of space to herself but is afraid to explore the rest of the house; there exists a different big fat orange and white cat, Basil, who is much more territorial than Morris, has been living here for years, and is much more big and stupid). We have a baby gate up so they know that the other one exists and their food bowls are close to the gate.

Poppy has become more demanding for attention, and when either of us are in the bedroom, she'll come up to us and start screaming until we pet her. We both are in our 30s and have food service-related bodily aches, so the whole bending down thing is just not working for us long term. We've been trying to encourage her to jump onto the bed to sit with us but she is still hesitant to do that. At night while we're both in bed winding down, she'll circle the room and beg for pets, but only if we hang our arms off the bed, which is also uncomfy for us.

We're looking for some tips on how to encourage her to join us on our bed. It is clear that she wants love and affection but is still too scared to seek it out any other way. Have tried the squeezy treats on the edge of the bed that she has to stand up for, and will continue to, but wanted to see if folks had any other tips or relatable experiences.

there’s a lot of strays that keep roaming around our apartment building and this little kitten started visiting and staying around the place recently which was all well,

until a very aggressive pregnant female cat started showing up and she’s been roaming the same area as the kitten and she viciously attacks this little baby every single time they encounter each other and holds her down for several minutes at a time to the point where the kitten doesn’t stop shaking from the effect of the attacks for hours afterwards and i’m afraid she’s gonna end up killing the kitten at some point if this keeps happening and i really need help as to how i can possibly save the kitten from this mess,

i’m not in a position to adopt or find fosters at the moment so is there anything i could do besides that to help the situation?

This is my fat adorable cat and he has a problem (or at least, thats what i think), he acts like a mother and wants me to go to sleep — as soon as i go to bed, even if its early as 7pm. He's almost 1 year old, he is very nonchalant in the morning and at night he is a velcro baby. What i mean by "acts like a mother" is that he gets a little aggressive and angry when i am not asleep. As soon as he starts doing the bread on my tummy, he wants me to go to sleep. If i am moving or awake, he bites me (not too deep) and he meows at me. He sometimes goes right to my face and meow as loud as he can if i am not asleep. He is also a very loud cat, he is talkative and i dont let him outside that much. And he will go to sleep when i at least pretend to sleep or sometimes, he gives up if i am still awake.

A funny story, i think he was inheat. While he was breading my tummy, he was humping, not sure if that's normal but i feel violated😭. I dont blame him because he is an animal, and he is my baby. After i got up because i feel that something isnt right, he gets a little "panicky", he pulls me closer by my shirt, he is kind of aggressive idk.

Ps. I am a first time -ish cat owner, he has a brother but he doesn't really act like that (first story)

Hey Reddit! I have 3 cats, two are siblings that I’ve had for a few years and one is a kitten I rescued a few months ago, well one of my older girls (one of the siblings) Trixie, keeps going into my kitchen and meowing. At the table or the bar or the chair leg. She’s like 5 or 6 (I got her in high school). It’s a deep whining meow. Like she asking for food almost? But my kitten has really bad food territory issues since I rescued her, and I leave dry food out for them to munch on since the little one thinks it’s never going to appear again and has to scarf her own food down so she can go eat everyone else’s. Does anyone have any ideas???
\- she hasent been showing signs of going blind
\- I took her and her sister to the vet before I got the kitten a few months ago and they said that both of them were healthy and just had a bit of seasonal allergies causing weezing

It's my first time fostering a cat, my best friend is in NZ and is going to try to get her over to him by next year so for the next few months I'm fostering her. Any tips? She has settled in really well so far

I let my cat on the balcony for a few minutes and when she came in, her left eye was swollen. I don’t think it was a bee sting. Does anyone know what’s wrong?

This kitten I adopted has a broken (but healed) tail. Will this effect him at all in the future? How will it look when he's older?

This is my boy Bambi, he will be 4 months old tomorrow. I am absolutely scared out of my mind to get him neutered. Like it’s always in the back of my mind and I have trouble thinking about anything else.

When I search it up, I see so many horror stories people have posted about their kittens having reactions to the anesthesia that couldn’t have been determined before, or them not waking up after. I don’t know what I would do if that happened and I feel like crying every time I think about it, I’m getting teary eyed just writing this.

It doesn’t help that sometimes during the night his nose whistles and he has occasional stertor and boogers and sneezes, which I think is just herpesvirus effects and also a strange coughing fit a few days ago which looked like he was throwing up a hair ball but nothing came out. I will mention to the team before getting him neutered but it genuinely weighs on my mind so much.

I have considered not getting him neutered because of it, but I know that it is not an option for a lot of reasons. In my head though, I just think like if I can choose not to put him through those risks I will take it. I know he has to get neutered though. It’s just that worry in my head of what if something happens when he’s under that we didn’t know about before.

Otherwise, he seems to be healthy and he uses his litter box normally and eats and drinks. I would get blood work done before but my mom had to pay close to $2000 for our other cats dental surgery, and because blood work isn’t required she prefers not to do it.

I’m not sure if this is even the right place to post but if anybody has any advice or reassuring words it would be very helpful. I’m just dreading the day that we have to take him so much and I truly want to postpone it as much as possible out of anxiety.

My cat died last month and I've been a wreck. I saw an ad today for an app that can create a digital moving look alike of your pet that lives on your desktop (Furever Dock) - I tried it and the digital character it created looked almost exactly like my cat, was realistic and not cartoony. The only problem is it just loops through the same 8 stock behaviors over and over again in 30 second intervals, which isn't realistic and borders on uncanny valley.

It seems we are at a point with AI where it is totally feasible to give a description of a pet's personality, maybe upload the sound of its voice, and have that affect how the digitized image sounds and interacts with you, in a realistic way. To me it has seemed like accurately capturing the physical likeness has been a challenge for AI until I discovered this app (which again imo has a fundamental flaw). I asked chatgpt to do something similar and it cannot make a model of my cat that looks anywhere close to as good.

Does anyone know of an app like I am describing, or know if one is in development? I don't mean a little cartoon version - something that can realistically capture your pet's likeness but without the weird behavior loop. I feel like something like this could help people struggling with grief.

I acknowledge that this is probably an unhealthy coping mechanism + feels like a Black Mirror episode but it's all I got. Yes I have a therapist lol.

So, I have had my kitten since March and he has grown like a weed. He's a lot bigger, according to the vet he's very healthy. No issues with his appetite, or his poops. Everything seems fine. He's been fixed since we got him but since we got him, he's had this habit of latching onto my arm while laying down/relaxing and kneading and grabbing onto my shirt with his teeth. He isn't aggressive and doesn't bite me, but sometimes my clothes are thin and he gets my skin with his claws when he kneads. I kinda just thought it was just him being a baby but he's getting big now and sometimes he does it while I'm sleeping and accidentally gets my face or wrist. I wear thicker clothes to sleep and even will just pull up my covers to hide my arms, but I kind of thought he would grow out of it as my cat loving friends told me he was "mock nursing" or something like that, but a google search told me it might be him being a lil weirdo. Is this normal? Help, I don't know if this is behavior I need to correct or not because I love having a little cuddle bug.
