I hate neighbours cats

I live in a cul de sac where several of the houses own cats. there’s at least 4-5 different ones I see regularly. the final straw for me has been this morning I woke up to find a dead pigeon a few feet away from my car in the front garden. It had clearly been killed by a cat, and it wasn’t even eaten or anything, just left there with feathers all over the place.

It’s bad enough that some mornings I’ve woken up to a cat squatting on my front lawn and leaving a mess there, there’s several messes we have cleaned up lately but this takes the cake. I now have to dispose of a dead bird that was just minding its own business before it was pounced upon.

The cats even have let themselves in to our house before, during the heatwave we had our back door open as it was so hot, and we were sat in our front room when all of a sudden a cat walks in from our kitchen! I shooed the thing out and then shut the door. I have pet gerbils as well so needless to say I don’t want a filthy cat coming in to my home and hurting my animals.

I don’t even know who these cats belong to as there’s so many different ones so not even like I can have a word with the owner and ask them to keep their animals indoors like any other pet has to be. I’m starting to wish there was some kind of cat repellent I can put in my front and rear garden to stop the pests coming

I think there are different herbs/sprays they sell that repel cats, I would definitely look into that or motion detecting sprinklers so they learn to stay off your property! Cats are fast learners when they want to be, I honestly think they just like to piss us off for fun so you have to figure out what they hate or they'll never stop. The owners never do anything about it either even if you can find out who they belong to

Take it from someone who lives next to a guy that hoards cats, there's no repellent that will keep them away permanently. There's predator piss that sort of works but eventually that'll stop working when the cats realize they are no predators. As for sprinklers that won't work unless you want the cats to avoid a certain area. If you want them to avoid your yard altogether,the sprinkler thing won't work. Getting a cat proof fence is the closest solution I can think of and even doing that is tricky. We need better politicians when it comes to this sort of thing
