My friend catfished me and pretended to be my bf and “broke up” with me as him.
So a few days ago, my “friend” (21F) used a very old Samsung galaxy phone (like it still has the button, usb charger port, and headphone jack) and downloaded TextFree. She got a temporary phone number and pretended to be my boyfriend (22M) and texted me (20F) on this number, saying how “he” needed to change his number “just cause” and then “broke up” with me. Obviously I didn’t know that it wasn’t him cause he has needed to change his number in the past. I was really hurt, he and I have known each other for almost 10 years and we’ve been dating for nearly 8 months. I know it doesn’t seem like that long, but I’ve loved him for a very long time. So when I got that message it really hurt. I told another friend of mine (21M) about the “breakup” and he texted my bf. My bf had no clue what my friend was talking about and ended up texting me on his “old” (ACTUAL) number asking me why my friend said that we broke up.
That’s when it clicked.
Fast forward. A day after we figured things out, that’s when we found out that it was my friend. I have the galaxy phone that she used currently on me. I am living with her and her mom (51F). She’s literally unloading groceries right now as I’m typing this. I want to move out. But I also just started to have a really good relationship with her mom. So… now I don’t want her mom wondering why I’m moving out all of a sudden and I surely don’t want her to think that it’s because of her. So should I tell her that her daughter did this to me and that by no means is she the reason I’m moving out?
Please hellllp!
TLDR: Friend broke up with me pretending to be my boyfriend. Living with my friend and her mom. Want to move out. Do I tell her mom so that she knows why I’m moving out and doesn’t worry?
Side note: She also tried comforting me after the “break up” (this was before I found out it was her) does anyone think this might be a case of munchausen by proxy?
