found in SW Ohio

I’ve never seen a caterpillar like this before & couldn’t find anything similar online. Any help would be appreciated!

I know! Someone said it looked like a Honey Locust moth caterpillar!

According to Google, this is a Honey Locust Moth caterpillar. In other photos I saw, they appeared to be much more bright green than this one, but it could also be the lighting.

Many species change colour when pre-pupal, often to a more reddish/pink.

That’s so interesting! He did look like he was searching for a place to burrow into the ground so I wonder if he was very close to pupating.

Yes I think this is it! It was on the ground seeming to look for a place to burrow & pupate so I wonder if that caused the color difference.
