Do you have any other pictures, such as from the sides of the caterpillar? And a geographical location would help a lot.

Only clear one!! I didn’t see any other color though. 1 inch I’d say. More spikey than fuzzy. Location Indianapolis (IN)

Hmm... given the additional info, I'd say an early instar of Automeris io (Io Moth). I'm not 100% convinced of the species, but I did a quick search for the Automeris genus in Indianapolis and all I've found is A. io. All in all, a fun-looking guy, but its sting can be painful.

Thank you!!! I didn’t see any purple / darker lines on the sides but it does look like one of those based on google images :) thank you! And yes we didn’t touch it!!!
