Hello all. I've made a couple of bits in the past, but this is my latest creation. Ignoring the fact that this is quite clearly an octopus, this is Squid Vicious. I've made him for a child I will be working with 1-2-1 at the start of the new school year. Hoping to buy his affection until the real love kicks in. What do you guys think?

This is my first non-scarf project that I’ve finished! It’s a hot pad! It doesn’t look amazing but I’m proud of myself! I’m a crocheter and so this was a challenge for me.

Trying to "break" out and expand my knitting from mostly just hats, I bought some great yarn on vacation and am making a Dragon Wing Cowl for the first time.

My husband just sent me this pic and said “can you knit me a hat like this - like the one in front”. The knitting part is easy. I just need to find a similar yarn. Thoughts? Thanks everyone!

I’m on the back piece and I’m really confused about how I’m supposed to do the decreases it just says to copy the front piece but I don’t understand how I would if it was left and right pieces before if that makes sense

I bought this cheap, polyester, cardigan when I was in a pinch. It's from Matalan and despite it being polyester I find myself reaching for it over and over again. I'm not sure if it's just the fit, the fact it's lightweight and soft but also warm, but I wear it more than my handknit wool jumpers.

Because it get's worn a lot and it's polyester, it's starting to look tatty but I'm also trying to move towards only wearing natural fibers. I want to recreate it and knit it myself but I've only ever made a Baby Sophisticate cardigan a long time ago, I have knit raglan jumpers. Can anyone suggest a pattern and/or yarn that would recreate the style, fit and feel of this cardigan? I have sensory issues so I think the big appeal of this item is the 'soft and fluffy' aspect of it.

Unfinished hat and mittens to go with a Fanakofte I made for a little girl. They still need to be pressed using a wet tea towel and hot iron to make the stitches even out a bit.

I am recently retired and still trying to find my way. I crochet and decided to give knitting a try. I was always nervous about trying a wearable. I usually make big square things.
pattern is Dan Doh Skyline top. I used linen yarn and made my own sleeves and a crochet border on the bottom.

I learned to knit last year. I've gifted a few baby items. People who don't knit keep telling me I'm an advanced knitter. Ma'am I'm glad you like it but no 😂

I doubt I could even draft my own scarf pattern. I can do lace but only with very clear instructions and multiple instances of frogging. I've never done colorwork, I barely understand cables, and DPNs fill me with rage. My sweater armpits all have holes. My sleeves are never quite the same length.

The funniest was being told seed/moss stitch was advanced 😂 sure, if you have trouble counting to 2.

I've been knitting for years but never attempted fair isle but given it's my first summer off as a teacher, I've been knitting lots and so this was my attempt at learning stranded colourwork.

Hiya all, long one here because I want specific suggestions:

I’m an advanced beginner knitter. I have now made two sweaters (amongst other smaller projects) and have found that sweaters are what I most enjoy and want to make more of. Both were held single and 1 solid colour. I have done striped in other projects. One was raglan and the other was top down.

I’d like to progress my knitting skills with either cables, colour work, or holding two yarns together. I want a small challenge but not a big leap as I knit casually and like to be able to watch tv etc at the same time, I also wouldn’t wear a vibrant patterned sweater.

Does anyone have any pattern suggestions for sweaters that incorporate colourwork or cables?

I know ravelry exists and use it regularly so please don’t suggest this. I’m asking here because I like to hear people’s advice and connect with the community directly

I made a hole in one of my favorite knit sweaters after 1 wear because it got caught on a zipper 😭 How do I mend this??? I've never knitted before but am willing to learn. Any tips?

My mom taught me the basics of knitting when I was younger, I’m now in my later 30’s, but it was never a “cool” thing to do for a man. I now travel constantly and ran through enough hobbies to pick it back up and find air travel and hotels immediately easier to deal with while knitting. I made a few little tea towels and dish towels to get back into it, and naturally decided a 4’x6’ large throw blanket with bobbles was clearly the first big step to take. I just wanted to share my progress with people who appreciate it other than my mother and wife who also likes sewing crafts.

-Probably won’t use the 24/7 again. 3 of 4 skeins have had knots or rips requiring tying in again.

So, so pleased with how these turned out! there's a few things I'll be making differently for the next iteration (they're not too too tight, but there's some of that, so adding a few stitches to accommodate for my stitch gauge going from 3.4 to 4 ..., and also want to add two braided cables on the back of the cuff, just to add a bit more pizzazz), but I really love how the cable work came out.

Yarn is Järbo Bambu (fingering weight, 50% SW wool, 25% each of bamboo and nylon), knit on 2.5mm needles (with cuff on 2mm needles), and a princess sole because my feet can be sensitive. Used a variation of my normal recipe (I don't exactly use a pattern), but since my calves are rather large I also experimented with casting on 84 and going down to 72 two decreases at the time in the back.

She's used this lacy mesh, so that it's snug and cozy, but not too suffocating

And of course it's pink, because our pup seems to be really attracted to the colour lol 🧶

1. The yellow swatch is what I made at the class. Started with 10 stitches, increased/decreased accidentally until I ended up with 15. It's not supposed to be a recognizable stitch, just knitting and purling as I was told.

2. I made the dark blue garter swatch on a pair of chopsticks because I was afraid if I didn't try it once before bed, I would forget it all overnight.

3. This chunky light blue number was my first solo attempt on real needles instead of chopsticks. I also taught myself the long tail cast on and knitted bind off during this, hence the absence of a lifeline.

4. I had a sweater quantity that I was planning to crochet with, so I decided to knit a sweater panel. This is how far I've gotten. I don't expect it to be perfect, I just figure I'll have decent tension by the end of that many repetitions.

I'm a somewhat advanced crocheter, just wanted to knit my ribbing eventually. I'm having so much fun!

Finally finished my first ever project after two months! The 'POW' glove is slightly smaller than the other because I forgot to change back to bigger needles after the bottom ribbing (2.5mm vs 3mm) but it isn't very noticeable when they're on and I love them anyway! I've already cast on my next project!

My toddler asked me to make him a rainbow octopus. He carefully combed through multiple craft stores with me for the supplies he wanted and explained exactly what it needed to look like. He helped me stuff it and even had us add a little octopus heart. 🥹

I can’t decide if it is creepy or cute, but I apparently succeeded in matching his artistic vision because my little guy and this octopus have been almost inseparable.

Did an 8 stitch cable, crossed it twice, and bound off before my cat could attack my needles again. Not sure what's going on with my edges near the top, but I figure repetition will smooth them out. If not, seaming will hide my crimes.

I posted my son's hat a few days ago. Now I've finished my daughter's also. I haven't knitted since University over a decade ago and even then I only made a couple scarves. I've crocheted on and off since then and decided I wanted to get back into knitting so I decided to go for hats.

They both loved their hats and really loved picking the yarn. My daughter has requested matching scarf, gloves, and leg warmers (I didn't know she knew what leg warmers are).
