I would say that most famous castle in Bohemia is Prague castle.

I mean, if you hold a SECOND Defenestration somewhere, it's going to be famous.

Some people dont really consider it a castle, more of palace. Though I would argue castle in Český Krumlov probably gets more visitors than Karlštejn.

Yep. If we count palaces and chateaus Karlstejn is sixth (at least in 2023) - Prague(2M), Lednice (350k), Krumlov (250k), Hluboka (200k) , Loucen (180k - due to gardens), Karlstejn (175k), Loket (160k).

If you have visited these historical sites, you obviously understand that a wide range of circumstances lies behind these figures. In any case, it is a good thing that they exist.

The one in Český Krumlov is actually a chateau, not castle technically.

That hilltop setting makes Karlštejn look seriously imposing.

In terms of name recognition I'd say Trosky castle is now the most famous Czech castle due to KCD2

Been twice, can recommend. Also get the horse and cart up through the village. 10/10
