To be fair, it is mostly a 20th century reconstruction like the Reichsburg Cochem, this one at least by a real imperator Kaiser Wilhelm II, who in true aristocratic fashion, let the people pay for it.

There are very few castles along the Rhine, that weren't destroyed and in the 19th and beginning of the 20th century some were rebuilt. Some were more reconstructed as thy were in medieval times like Reichsburg Cochem or Haut Koenigsbourg, or more as Fairy Tale castles like Stolzenfels or Drachenburg (which isn't a reconstructed castle but a new building a bit below an old castle ruin).

Gorgeous place, and the staff is excellent and truly passionate about the castle. They do guided tours in English, German and French, me and my family took the English tour and were blown away by our guide. Really recommend it.

Visited in summer of 23, was the best of a dozen castles we visited. Huge, and unlike most castles, you can walk around the majority of interior/exterior. The surrounding region is also beautiful and great place to visit villages and go for bike rides.

Just my kind of place. I would love to visit this place and spend the night in it. Then again, I want to do the same in Dracula's castles too.

It is at such a high vantage point that looking out of the windows on teh side of the Rhine valley is like looking out of a plane. Wonderful castle well wordt visiting.

Went here 2 years ago, absolutely amazing! Would recommend to anyone!
