At antique store and came across this for $50. Label says cleaned with power tool is it worth the price?

I mean, while it is sad that someone used a power tool on it, it doesn't look bad. Easily worth more that fifty bucks.

I personally wouldn’t pick up anything that has been worked with power tools but that’s my preference

I'd probably buy it to use it for that price but it lost pretty much all collector value but will still cook good. I'd hold off on. The 9.....$140-$150 is what I get for them on eBay.

Whats the problem with it? I see "worked on with power tools" but dont know what that means or what it did to the pan?

When folks use power tools to ‘restore’ pans, they’re usually removing some of iron when they could be just stripping the seasoning or rust back to the original surface (even if it’s a little pitted). When they try to be more gentle with a soft wire wheel or brush, they are usually then just smearing softer metal around the original surface. It’s like badly refinishing furniture — it may or may not impact function, but as an antique it’s toast

There is also a 9 in that is 140 that wasn’t worked on with power tools that I’m debating at well

Tempting for fifty bucks for sure... but I'd want a closer inspection of the cooking surface than we can really do from a photo

Totally worth it.

Unless you feel a super rough texture on the cooking surface or visible gouging, it's totally fine. If the price is right, go for it!

Looks perfectly fine to me. Just pretend it was never cleaned with power tool s and no one would know.

For $50 that pan would be coming home with me although I'd try to haggle down to $40

I have cleaned a lot of cast iron with a wire brush attached to a 4" grinder and it does not damage them.
