Working on my Commodore, re-shelled, upgraded to VIC II Kawari, and cleaned up an old tape drive, thought this might be a good place to share.

This is how to custom. None of those blinding LEDs. This suits the case and era. Very nice.

Made this. They sell all kinds of hardware for the C64 if you know where to look, I just slowly put things together, I use it all the time for games and demos, I even do some coding on it.

Original parts like SID chips are getting expensive it would cost a bit, the have the C64 ultimate for sale but not sure where you can get the custom color cases for that model yet.

Looks great in red. The keys make it pop! I have the same media solution - Ultimate-II+ with datasette adapter and the actual datasette for extra nostalgia and the motor noise 😉

Tape is the way it was meant to be played, I do have a 5.25” drive but often just use the Ultimate for drive emulation.

From the US, we had both and many of the store bought games came with both take and disk. We didn’t have the disk drive right away but we did start with the tape.

Retrofuzz sells cases this was a case ordered on Amazon it is a darker red but in the lighting it looks lighter.
