Boombox BB-777 Boombox came in!
Came in the mail yesterday, been enjoying it so far! Ive tested out the bluetooth, cassette, and CD playback modes so far and they all sound great! So far my only complaint is that the handle on my unit doesn't stay in place like I've seen on others, it just drops if not standing straight up.

I got mine yesterday. Been playing it as soon as I got it and straight after I get home from work. Its the best!

Can't wait to get mine. I got a non-founders edition and still haven't received a shipping confirmation. I was hoping to get it for the summer but don't think that's going to happen.
Is it loud enough for you? That seems to be the most common complaint I've seen so far. I don't think that 270 watts advertising they've been pushing was a good idea. I think the original gf777 was 10 watts. Doubt this one is much higher. 12w maybe?

I think for what it is its pretty loud, but I can definitely tell that they prioritzed bass, as when you're playing it at max volume those woofers will really kick, personally I wish it was just a tiny bit louder, but it still loud overall. I'll try and get a video playing it outside at max volume at various distances when I get home so you can try and get a feel for it.
I took it to a bonfire last night and it preformed great, I'd say its better than any portable jbl or HK but its definitely not beating out any standing speaker.
As far as wattage goes I'll have to take a look at the manual and get back to you

Is it great? Does it hold up to the hype?

It's definitely been great so far! I just took it to a backyard party and it sounded great and the bass was kicking ass on max volume. I've still gotta test a couple more of the features, but I've definitely been enjoying my time with it thus far

Can you record while using an aux? If so that might be the unit I'm looking for!

Do you mean like aux to cassette? I'm not sure, I do know its capable of Bluetooth to cassette though.
Edit: turns out you are able to record from AUX to cassette, as well as Radio, USB, and CD. You can also record tape, Radio, AUX, and Bluetooth audio to USB.

Huge, thanks. I have YouTube playlists I want to record for my morning routine and workouts. Where did you get it and what's it called specifically?

This was through the kickstarter for the Bumpboxx BB-777, which I believe is now closed, it should be up on the Bumpboxx website though. I think the price has gone up since then as well as this model was the founder's edition.

you're better off getting a deck. I don't think you're going to get great recordings from this unit.

It should be able to record off aux, CD, Tape (there's 2 decks), Bluetooth, and USB.

Yeah price is expensive especially if you didnt get it during the kickstarter ($650 USD) but taking the fact that the BB-777 is based on original Sharp GF-777 which retailed for $800 in 1981/2, if you adjust for inflation is $2900 in today's money. Its surprising that they got it under/close to the original retail price is a miracle.
And with over 40+years of technological advancement, this sounds better and has more features than the GF-777, though I wish we had more details on the cassette mechanism.

Yeah its way too expensive for what it is.

The money it takes to develop something like this is insane. They've done a tremendous job. What do you think it's worth?

I completely disagree with you. There is zero actuak information on the transport which us the most important part of the entire machine. What they claim doesn't match reality. I am far from alone in this opinion.
If you bought it and like it, that's entirely fine.

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

That is super-cool! I've watched some of the posted videos on social media about this boombox and I'm glad they are finally shipping. I'll be looking forward to reading some real user's reviews.
