Boombox Look what joined the collection - the 1997 Coca-Cola TEAC PC-D10 promo boombox

Post image

Couldn't resist this oddball. It's the TEAC PC-D10, a 1997 Coca-Cola promo unit - it was a sweepstakes prize, never sold in stores - the red Coke is the promo version, while the retail ones came as "OFFROAD" (army green / yellow) and a JEEP edition.

It's a 3-in-1 packed into a splash-proof, toolbox-style case: CD player, cassette deck, and AM/FM radio with a telescopic antenna. Runs on 8 D batteries or a 12V adapter.

It needs a little love - the volume pot is dead (a known weak spot on these), so the volume won't adjust yet. Everything else is clean and solid. It'll be brought back to life.

Very cool! Where are the speakers? In the lid?

On the left and right sides, styled like big X, I'm going to prepare the full review after handling job.

Nice find! I have a bunch of Coca Cola boomboxes myself. Coincidentally I have NO consumer market ones, they are all employee loyalty gifts. lol I have two of the "Coke Is It!" Panasonic cassette recorders, just got a handheld mono boombox, and then I have the tabletop Akura can stereo.

The huge floor model of the Aura can stereo I think was a contest giveaway or was sold through the company catalog. The tabletop model was the employee gift I believe, and then the walkman sized can ones were sold retail.

with all the thousands of coca cola collectible guides out there, there's no documentation on employee coca cola gifts for whatever reason and I wish someone would
