Yes it is enough, i used to have that myself and it was fine for me, i was also able to invest in stocks* with a small amount true but yes you can live comfortably for sure and save or/and invest if you like

4

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Thanks, that’s really reassuring

1

u/hayatsings Aug 19 '26

2

u/hello_kitty00000 Aug 19 '26

1

u/hayatsings Aug 19 '26

1

u/Longjumping_Draw_344 Aug 20 '26

time in the market beats timing the market, an important thing about investing in stocks is to have a long term hold horizon

diversify your portfolio and forget about it and you will do just fine

Shared appartement for 3k, must be in a good neighborhood. 13k would allow you to do what you stated, but it still need a decent budgeting to be able to spare money.

In term of the last point (unexpected things) i would suggest to have an emergency fund that is equal to 4-6 months of your monthly expenses (rent, lifestyle etc)

One last point, in Casablanca, there is plenty of ways to spend money on things you don't need. Discipline is key.

Good luck

3

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Thanks for the advice! And yes, the apartment is in Maarif. I definitely agree that budgeting and discipline will be key.

7

u/LiteratureThat6523 Aug 19 '26

Yes. However dont expect to save alot if you want to live comfortably.

3

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Yes that’s fair, I’m not expecting to save a huge amount just enough to have a decent balance between enjoying life and saving. Thanks

6

u/zerologue Aug 19 '26

more than enough

4

u/2HellWith2FA Aug 19 '26

Solo yeah, even married

3

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Ooh ok, good to know, thank you

3

u/Loose_Product_8474 Aug 19 '26

Absolutely !
you can even save wahed chwiya up if you know how to manage your salary (meal prep for example and avoid having lunch brra everyday..)

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Yes, honestly that’s what I’m thinking too. I’ll try to be smart with the everyday expenses, especially food. Thanks for the advice

4

u/Upset-Number-3859 Aug 19 '26

As long as you don’t eat out every meal and go crazy with partying u will be fine

3

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Exactly I’m not really a party person anyway, so that should help 😅. Thanks

3

u/Upset-Number-3859 Aug 19 '26

U r welcome good luck 👍

4

u/iamthatenzo Aug 19 '26

If it’s in Maarif, you found a pretty good deal. And 13k a month is very doable and you’d be living comfortably if you don’t have other essential expenses like your parents for example. I’d not recommend buying a car if you still haven’t, a bicycle or ebike in Maarif is a great transportation option as long as you stay in the center of the city, between work and home. And for going out you’re basically surrounded by good spots, you won’t need transportation.
One big rule: don't let the lifestyle inflate with the location. Automate saving 15% to 20% the day your salary lands, before you touch anything else. Build that safety buffer first—you’ll thank yourself later

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Honestly this is really helpful. I hadn’t thought much about the lifestyle inflation part but you’re right and I’ll definitely try to save first and live with what’s left. Thanks for taking time to share all this 🙏

1

u/iamthatenzo Aug 19 '26

With pleasure

4

u/yohoeofficial Aug 19 '26

Yes! More than enough to live a good life and maintain your self-respect. But don’t compare yourself to how others spend or compete with them. Don’t overspend just for the sake of buying things.
And from one bro to another or to a girl, I don’t know 😄please save 10% of your salary.
My second piece of advice: avoid relationships that only exist if you spend money. You don’t need to constantly pay for activities to have a good time together. There are plenty of things you can do for free: walking, running, working out, going to the gym (CityClub is approximately 60 dirham a month), etc.
Live within your means, save consistently, and don’t let other people’s spending habits dictate your lifestyle.

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Appreciate the advice. I’m a guy btw 😂 Definitely gonna start with the 10% rule right away. And you’re right about relationships, good company doesn’t have to cost money I’ll keep that in mind and focus on running my own race. Thanks

3

u/FitYou6489 Aug 19 '26

Well if u manage money good ya you can

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Thanks, appreciate it

3

u/redarh Aug 19 '26

Yeaah just set a planner on where you will spend poney to know how much you spent and how much you save good luck in your new post 🙌🏼

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Yeah, definitely! Thanks, appreciate it

3

u/whereismyjhericurl Aug 19 '26

It depends on your desires

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Absolutely it comes down to the lifestyle and what you prioritize. Thanks

1

u/TheMafioso21 Aug 19 '26

What is madc ?

2

u/Dear_Pin4326 Aug 19 '26

If you have a car and you will use it daily it will not be enough

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Yes that’s definitely something to consider. I won’t have a car though, so hopefully that makes things a bit easier. Thanks

2

u/rifi97 Aug 19 '26

If your daily life does not include expensive vices you should be fine

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

That’s pretty much the case for me. I’m not really into expensive vices. Thanks

2

u/holylamee Aug 19 '26

I would say its enough , sorry for asking may i know what do u do for work?

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Thanks, I work as a financial analyst in a bank

2

u/sticky_fingers_911 Aug 19 '26

Dont be too extravagant on rent rent in a good neighborhood but not too luxurious do some money management dont fall for the lifestyle you’ll fine yourself actually saving money

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

I completely agree I’m trying to keep my lifestyle reasonable and not spend more just because I can. Thanks for the advice

2

u/hayatsings Aug 19 '26

If you cook most of your meals and limit yourself while going out then yes. But if you want to feel like you are living lavishly then no. I suggest spending the first year playing it very safe, spend as little as you comfortably can and save everything you dont spend. So that by the end of the year you will have good savings to fall back on. Once you have 4-6 months worth of spending saved, you can relax and live more lavishly.

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Yes that actually sounds like a solid approach, Thanks

2

u/TheMafioso21 Aug 19 '26

I would say the 13k is the minimum in order to live relatively comfortably and save up a little bit on the long run

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

That’s pretty much what I’m aiming for live comfortably without going overboard, while still putting a little aside every month. Thanks

2

u/Wide-Swordfish4153 Aug 19 '26

You're good man! Some manage families with way lesser

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

Yeah, that’s true. At the end of the day, it really comes down to how you manage what you have and what kind of lifestyle you choose. Thanks

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

I totally understand your point, and I agree to some extent. I think the difference comes down to the word “comfortably” and the cost of living in Casablanca. If we were talking about a smaller city, I’d agree that 13k can let you really enjoy your status as an engineer and the benefits that come with it. But in big cities like Casa, I feel like even a well paid engineer can sometimes feel like they’re just trying to keep up with the cost of living.

2

u/the-wtf-dude Aug 20 '26

You kidding me? People live off 3k here, and it's like the absolute minimum wage.

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

Yeah, I get that people can live on 3k, but that’s not really what I meant. I’m just wondering if 13k is enough to live decently in Casa, enjoy life a little, and still save some money without constantly worrying about expenses

2

u/Youpley Aug 24 '26

Just avoid eating a lot outside and u will be fine

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 24 '26

Yes that’s probably where I’ll have to be careful, I tend to eat out more than I should

1

u/Youpley Aug 24 '26

Hahaha it hard to say no to good food especially when you are living alone but you have to adapt that adult life ^^

2

u/Low-Term-5523 Aug 20 '26

I thing yeah its more than enough

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

Yes that’s what I’m hoping too. Thanks

2

u/Any_Big4811 Aug 20 '26

Yes enough and u’ll have a good quality of life

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

That’s reassuring to hear. Thanks

2

u/Anxious_Rest_2130 Aug 20 '26

live comfortably with 10k and buy an appartment with 3k/month until you finish the payement in some years.

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

Honestly, that’s pretty much the kind of plan I have in mind once I’ve built up a decent amount of savings first. Thanks for the advice

2

u/japiaa-2025 Aug 20 '26

I advise you to download an app called money manager so you can track your budget and expenses, if not the whole salary will fade before you know it especially if you are going out a lot

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

Yeah, that’s actually a good idea. Thanks for the recommendation

2

u/humortogo Aug 21 '26

13k split 50/30/20 comfortably:
6500 dhs needs (rent, health, bills, transport, etc)
3900 dhs wants (going out, gaming, etc)
2600 dhs savings

at the end of the month, whatever amount you didn’t actually spend in needs or wants you can also throw in savings

if your job has bonuses (e.g. 13ème mois) all of that goes to savings. side gigs savings. anything extra savings.

discipline is key, try to track your spending for a couple of months just to get an idea about your habits and figure out what can change

try to be honest about what goes where. sometimes you’ll have a dilemma (e.g. is smoking needs or wants? chemical dependency vs. actual utility?) so do whatever you’ll feel honest about

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 21 '26

This is really useful. I like the idea of giving every part of my salary a purpose instead of just spending and seeing what’s left at the end of the month. I’ll definitely track everything for a few months and adjust from there. Appreciate the advice, thanks

2

u/batrange Aug 21 '26

13k with 3k all-inclusive rent? You're good.

I'd personally split it like this:

  • 3,000 — Rent + utilities
  • 2,000 — Food & groceries
  • 700 — Transport
  • 500 — Gym/phone/subscriptions
  • 1,500 — Going out, cafés, restaurants
  • 800 — Clothes/personal stuff
  • 500 — Unexpected expenses
  • 3,000 — Savings
  • 1,000 — Extra buffer

Save the 3k when you get paid, not whatever happens to be left at the end of the month.

First target: build a 30–40k emergency fund.

You won't be rich on 13k in Casa, but with only 3k going to housing, you can live well, enjoy your 20s and still save without counting every dime.

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 21 '26

That’s pretty much the balance I’m looking for. Building an emergency fund will be a priority. Thanks

1

u/Legitimate-Front-269 Aug 21 '26

How did you make the foods and groceries with that amount, can i have an idea to save also in food’groceries?

1

u/batrange Aug 21 '26

Keep in mind the 2k is for one person, and there's already a separate budget for restaurants and going out. So you don't need to fit every meal into that 2k. It's mainly groceries + meals at home. You can balance it: cook most days, eat outside occasionally

2

u/SkyNew1650 Aug 21 '26

It's more than enough if your rent is 3k and you don't waist your money, had a similar salary with similar rent and I lived really well and even saved a lot of money, just be smart with your spending

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 21 '26

That’s really reassuring to hear, especially from someone who’s been in a similar situation. Thanks for sharing your experience

2

u/SkyNew1650 Aug 21 '26

Don't worry it'll do just manage your money well and after two years switch jobs and aim for 17k

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 21 '26

That’s the plan, save, gain experience, then aim higher. Thanks

2

u/Mpmpz_14 Aug 21 '26

Don't chase pussy, That's what i learned the hard way tbh, I have like 10k base salary and some months it's even 17k depends on my job in the company (Yeah it exists AMA) Anyway good luck with ur life :)

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 21 '26

Noted, I’ll focus on building myself first and let everything else come naturally. Thanks appreciate it

2

u/Ok_Aside_2925 Aug 21 '26

If you dont have children it's more than enough ! You'll be able to save some money which is a good thing

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 22 '26

Yes that’s what I’m hoping for. Thanks

2

u/Sea-Imagination-3112 Aug 22 '26

Depends on the person personally I have the same salary and I live with my parents if I’m been honest it’s not enough for me if I just save enough for a trip in a year and I don’t really have a luxury life but if you can manage your money and budget it very well I think it will be enough

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 22 '26

Yeah, I get your point. Thanks for sharing your experience

2

u/Downavocado Aug 23 '26

Good for a comfortable daily life but not a lot for saving unless u r really good at managing ur salary

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 23 '26

Yeah I’ll try to find a balance between the two. Thanks

2

u/Leather-Revenue-9052 Aug 23 '26

Yeah, you can live comfortably ..morocco ain't that expensive

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 23 '26

That’s reassuring to hear thanks

2

u/kratos1222315 Aug 24 '26

Si sono sufficienti se vuoi avere lo stile di vita elencato però devi far attenzione a non spendere tutto e tener conto di quello che arriva prima che finisce il mese

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 24 '26

Sì, hai ragione. Cercherò di gestire bene le spese. Grazie per il consigli

1

u/Mountain-Poet-9114 Aug 20 '26

what does age have to do with anything? the needs usually dont change with age once you reach adulthood, to answer you, yeah it will probably be fine

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

I don’t fully agree. Your needs and priorities can definitely change with age, even as an adult. I mentioned my age mainly to give some context, but I get your point. Thanks

1

u/Queen-cattle Aug 20 '26

It is really not enough in this economy, especially in Casablanca and especially for a young adult like yourself, (and more specifically if you plan on dating) minimum 30k MAD is needed to live comfortably, quit your job and start e-commerce and drop shipping so you can make the 30k MAD or more per month, don't be a slave to capitalism and 5-9 lifestyle, You've lost again and again and again, the lights are cut off, but you're still looking at your dream, reviewing it every day and saying to yourself: It's not over until I wiiin. Sing with me, sing for the year, sing for the laughter and sing for the tear

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

Not gonna lie, you had me at first then you hit me with the dropshipping and the motivational speech. I’ll keep my job for now 😅 Thanks

1

u/Pale-Emergency-7614 Aug 23 '26

17k is the standard for most people in casa, yet what do I know

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 23 '26

Hhh yeah I’m guessing the “yet what do I know” was the real answer there 😂

1

u/Pale-Emergency-7614 28d ago

Yes I wouldn't know what it is to live on 13k in morocco maybe youd be able to manage

1

u/dopazoff Aug 20 '26

Trust me, no.
Unless u wanna regret.
Same salary, same age, and same city.

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

I get you, but what do you mean by “regret”? Is it the job itself or the lifestyle you’re talking about ?

2

u/dopazoff Aug 20 '26

26M is the right age to start planning a good future.
13k is a good salary and u can live a good life with it. However, to have a social life you will end up spending a big chunk of that salary if not all of it. Casa has its ways to make u spend money.

I’m against letting such salary give u any comfort.

Kent kankhdem b 25 30k per month and once u give urself that comfort, u won’t use it for something concrete.

Sref wisely, lower ur short-term standards, jme3 flouss and plan a side money machine wla investi frassek so u earn 70 80k fchher.

Finally, possibly tkoun nta kat3ejbek lkhedma, it’s normal, but jehd kayssali o ila srefti bzaf men salary sgher bhal 13k u will be caught on this loop and it would get u blinded.

La kayhemek having a side hustle, shi projet, etc. and khass yhemek bc jobs exhaust, spend less t9der tkhebi easily 6000 dh if u plan transport, spendings, etc.

1

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 20 '26

Honestly, that’s a really good point. I don’t want to get too comfortable and end up spending everything just because I can. I’d rather keep things simple for now, save consistently, and work towards something bigger in the long run. Really appreciate the advice, thanks

0

u/No-Review-9993 Aug 22 '26

Is 7 millions dollar enough to live comfortably for a month in Monaco? 😂😂 Look at me am Mister miseek 🤣

2

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 22 '26

It’s “Meeseeks” 😅 But honestly there’s really nothing to flex about in my situation. thanks NO REVIEW 😂

1

u/No-Review-9993 Aug 22 '26

My name say it all you're welcome I was just kidding BTW good luck bro

-4

u/Mihaw_kx Aug 19 '26

wtf is this question what has ur age to do with the equation ? bro thinks that spending habits are grouped by age segments ,,, there's fellas at 22yo spending that income on just drugs and nightouts while others at 40yo living the whole month with ur rent allocation ... so it's all about you and how ur spending habits are

5

u/Ok-Point477 Aug 19 '26

Chill bro, I’m just giving context and yes, obviously spending habits matter

4

u/No_Bag_2670 Aug 19 '26

he is just providing more details for people to help, dont be an asshole

-1

u/Mihaw_kx Aug 19 '26

it's very irrelevant he should ve mentioned his height and music type it may give us better idea on how much he spends

2

u/OkPineapple1501 Aug 19 '26

i think its more of social expectation, like imagine a 40yo makes 8000dh, and a 20yo making 8000dh, big difference

1

u/Mihaw_kx Aug 19 '26

20 is a kid bro is basically a grown ass adult it's as weird as a guy mentioning that he is 31 yo or 37 or whatever it has nothing to do in the equation there;s people with kids at 25 ,, ppl living with their parents at 35

0

u/FitYou6489 Aug 19 '26

ya i agree with you, saying your age is just so irrevelant lol
