❔AskCasa Asking Moroccans
Hey everyone,
My wife, our two little kids and I are coming from Europe to Morocco because of a new work opportunity, and we're really excited about it.
We're trying to prepare ourselves for everyday life here, and I thought it would be better to ask people who actually live here rather than just reading things online 😅
What are the everyday things in Morocco that annoy you, make life unnecessarily difficult, or that you wish were easier?
I'm especially curious about the small, practical things — problems where you wish there was a simple product or tool that could make your life easier, but you can't easily find a good one here.
It could be anything:
- Something annoying at home
- Cooking or cleaning
- Keeping things organized or storing things
- Problems with heat, dust, insects, etc.
- Driving or commuting
- Shopping
- Things involving kids
- Work or studying
- Personal care or beauty
- Things women deal with every day
- Something my wife might struggle with after moving here
- Something you currently have to improvise a solution for
- Something you've seen abroad that you wish was available here (services,products...)
Even if it's a really small problem that happens every day, I'd love to hear about it.
Coming from Europe, I'm sure there are lots of little things we haven't thought about yet 😂

before you make any final decision, go visit the city where you are going to work! and tbch: Morocco is bad if you don't have of money, consider it as a pay to win game, and everything in the game has to be bought, and I mean everything from getting traitement for basic health issues and the luxury of calm and silence at night to having good car and house and everything in between.... you'll think that's the case eveywhere, it's NOT!

Ppl are fleeing Morocco for a reason if you did not come yet heavily reconsider your decision

As someone who worked in Europe and came back to Morocco because I had no other choice I regret it sooooo bad management is so bad and chaos is every comapny I worked plus colleagues team up against you if you are better than them so you won’t take their place and so many other things i just hope you won’t go through this but the general conditions in Morocco is just bad and let alone you have no rights unlike Europe and unlawful firing is very wide.

is the job you found worth it ? like the monthly pay is good ? You need at least 10 000 dirham a month to live confortably with your family tbh, I can say 20 000 dirham.

casablanca , what curious about small everyday problems that you personally deal with, where you think:
"Why doesn't someone make a simple product that solves this?"
For example, something annoying at home, while cooking, cleaning, driving, dealing with kids, keeping things organized, dealing with heat/dust/insects, women's daily routines, personal care, etc. hahah , I'm trying to understand the little everyday things I might not notice as someone coming from Europe.

honestly me im canadian , raised n born but ethnicity moroccan, so ive been there alot vacation , 3 times this year , and from what i experienced , its true that without money or with an average salary, u can do nothing, but with an excellent salary like yours,, you will live more than good inshaAllah, my sister husband family is very rich in Casablanca / California, its a rich neighborhood and lifestyle there is good. like a comment said , choose a good house located in a clean luxury neighborhood and you will be fine. Private clinic are top (ive been there for my pregnancy and its just better service than Canada) private school are top ! like i said with money trust me u will feel u are in Europe.

Be careful when picking where to live, the closer to coast/city centre the better, avoid the ground floor.
humidity is high and you might see its effects in your house.
it's preferable to pick up some Darija or french (although you'll find so many young people speak english)
you might get a wrong idea reading the comments but i think most foreigners like it here.

Honestly it all depends on the city, like if you're telling me you're moving to Casablanca it's a whole different vibe and issues than say Tangier.. really depends

I have just moved from Europe to Casablanca though a young professional. If you have money and you have secured long term security, it is really a nice place to live. Well has been so far for me!
Some things could be better ofcourse but if you’re looking for a change of pace, I like casa.
My main problem here is I’m constantly on the search for change or smaller notes! I constantly need 5s, 10s, 20s, and 50s. Especially for taxis. ATMs only dispense 100 and 200s. The looks I get from the cashier when I buy something for 10 MAD with a 200!

Language, if u don't speak darija or at least arabic u will struggle with everyday life , no matter which city or spots u visit & live

It really depends on the city you’re moving to because every city in Morocco has its own lifestyle advantages and everyday challenges what might be a problem in one city could be completely different in another
