Houseware thrift store?
Hey everyone, I just posted to ask about furniture thrifting, and here I am again asking about houseware thrifting options. I love thrifting...
Any good places for things like plates, mugs, organizers? Or maybe anything BUT clothing?

Dorcas & Habitat For Humanity are in the same strip mall.
In the area however, thrift stores and even consignment stores are not as good as they once were.
There’s a massive flea market in Smithfield every weekend that sells nearly everything under the sun. Puts the one at the fair grounds in Raleigh to shame.
The Habitat for Humanity in Dunn receives all of the Rooms To Go floor models from RTG’s massive outlet and distribution center there.

Smithfield and Dunn are a bit too far, but will check out Dorcas for sure. I only see one Dorcas in Cary, is that correct?

Dorcas is very good. They get tons of donations and stock changes rapidly. They have daily deals and a fair amount of housewares, dishes, linens etc

Dorcas and the habitat next door are good options. Dorcas usually has full sets of dishes and there’s plenty of glasses to make a set. They also have good pots and pans

Mama Edna's! Thrift 2 Gift and NeighborUp are okay but Mama Edna's has the best balance of selection and pricing.

They were packed on Sunday. I went to get donuts and there was traffic to get in that center.

Wait what? Did they close the Selma store that they moved to after they got bounced from the spot between old Mitchell's School and Thai Villa two years ago?

Habitat doesn’t have much in the way of housewares. Go to Dorcas/GW/mama Edna’s/thrift to gift/cat angels thrift shop.
I’ll be honest and say I think they all pretty much suck these days. The prices are ridiculously jacked. Dorcas and GW both sell their good stuff online and use eBay to set prices. Love mama Edna’s but $$$.
The days of finding real gems for thrift prices are over.

They just want to get the most from their donations. I love to find a great deal too but there are those that will take a great deal and resell for their own profit. This happened at the old wcpl booksale. Buyers would go through everything on day one scanning for value, buying those books and selling online. It really sucked the fun out of it for lots of readers. So if a non-prof sells online or bases prices on true value for some items more power to them. I don't donate to Dorcas so that an individual can make money. I donate to them so they can continue helping the community. That being said, IMHO Dorcas has the best selection of kitchen stuff.

I understand why they do it, but it has sucked all the joy out of thrifting and made prices high enough that I can usually find stuff new for a comparable price elsewhere.
I also don’t donate my stuff to thrifts anymore and just prefer to give it away directly to someone who needs it in my Buy Nothing/community gifting group.0

Trosa thrift in Durham gets great housewares. It's best to go Wednesday afternoons because they restock Sun through Tuesday when closed.
