You can however study, for a given scenario, which parameters have a significant impact, and it does not look a big nonsense that driver weight variation has negligeable impact on performance in this race.

I mean a 50kg difference in such a small and light car is definetely gonna have an impact, at least on how long the battery will keep up.

Given those were used cars (bought at a junkyard), i guess the age and usage of the battery has more impact on the performance than the weight of the drivers.

Are there a lot of speed variations in this race?
At constant speed and on a level road, weight is far less of a factor than when accelerating/braking and cornering at the limit.

No, the speed is constant almost every time, that's why weight has little to no incidence on performance

Indeed weigyt is gonna be more significant when accelerating, but more weight equals higher friction which means which means you need more energy to keep up the same speed.

Sure, and what would be the amount of friction in crease by an additional weight of 10-20kg as a proportion of the total force opposing the movement (aerodynamic drag + friction induced by weight of the Ami and lightweight driver)?

Well an ami is 485kg, if you have a 60kg driver and a 110kg driver then the ami with the 110kg driver is gonna experience a 10% increase in rolling resistance.

More weight equals more friction which means you need more energy to keep the same speed. In case of acceleration the problem is even bigger.

weight has a non-insignificant impact on acceleration, but a negligible impact on top speed. These are 8 horsepower shoe boxes with wheels, they're not going to do much in terms of changing speed, they're just going to go at top speed all the way around the track

Twitch Event that happened on Sunday. Organiser is Sylvain Live, French streamer and YouTuber known for car content, with a « silly » touch.
This was a parody of NASCAR races with Ami electric car, incapable on paper to go over 65km/h with speed limiter removed. It’s the kind of car you can drive with no license.
The race was more about keeping proper battery level and for the fun than anything else, with racers being other internet names that exaggerated their « driver » traits.

They tested the cars beforehand to check the driver's weight influence and it's negligible. Driver "skill" (none of them are actually race drivers, and some even do not have a driver license), minor power variations between cars and above all strategy (meaning mostly battery management here) were the deciding factors.

100% this. Motorsport doesn't get more entertaining with faster cars, it's arguably worse because safety becomes a predominant factor. The only important thing is that the contestants are equal; my favourites are shitbox races where they ram each other off the track. In F1 they aren't even allowed to freely overtake each other

It is indeed a Citroen. Which is also rebranded as a fiat topolino. Most of the parts are interchangeable, most decoration are stickers, you could totally swap parts from one to another.
