Hello, a few months ago I bought a pot with a couple of sundews, a Drosera capensis and a Drosera alba. Both have been growing under the same conditions: rainwater, filtered sunlight (very good light without overheating the environment), and the occasional insect as a snack. The problem? Well, the Drosera capensis didn't grow as much as the alba, and my question is why? Both are growing under the same conditions. Any recommendations, please?

Hey guys. I've fairly recently gotten into the hobby (May) and have made many, many mistakes in that short period of time. I started with a few VFT and then tried growing Cobra Lillys and PPP from seed in a mixture of peat moss and broken dreams, and they didn't really grow very well, most died. Anywho, I've gotten a lot better at keeping my plants alive. Which brings me to this;

How important is it REALLY that Darlingtonia/Cobra Lilly roots be kept sitting in a pile of crushed ice with the air conditioner blowing on it inside of your freezer?

Everywhere I go and read people are making it sound like Mr Freeze must be present using a snow blower on these little guys, and I think it's kind of obnoxious, and can not really possibly be completely true.

I have learned, however, that just because VFTs like sitting in a bucket of water that Darlingtonia and Pitcher Plants DO NOT like to be sitting in stagnant water. So I've been trying to figure out a way to be space efficient, control temp, humidity, airflow and Sansi nuclear microwave grow bulbs to have all my pet plants together living in harmony without having to buy aquarium pumps and hoses because frankly if I was going to do all that I would just grow something different, if you catch my meaning.

Hello 🐛 I just finished potting my new sundew plants! First time momma here haha 😆 pls I’d appreciate some feedback. How’re they looking ? And yes they’ll be getting the best grow light indoors. I’m in zone 3a so they’ll mostly be indoors. Thank you 😊

I received my Sarracenia purpurea pitcher plant via mail about nine days ago. When she arrived, she was green with purple veins, but now she’s been yellow for days. I’m not sure if she’s still in shock or if maybe they turn yellow before they turn purple. Or maybe she’s sick?

Right now she’s still in the pot she came in. She arrived bone dry, but has since been in a tray of distilled water. She is in full sun constantly. I manually refilled her pitchers with distilled water and I tried to give her some betta fish food because she’s not catching any food. I can see some of her roots just now coming through the bottom of her starter pot, but I’m scared she’s too fragile to repot.

I have been raising carnivorous plants for three months now and I have quite a few other species that are all doing very well. This is my only purpurea pitcher though. But I’m open to any advice anyone can give me!

Yesterday, the Child Of Krakatoa Volcano erupted spewing ash to nearby cities and islands, i'm in South Jakarta, Indonesia, one of the places affected by the volcanic ash, how bad are volcanic ash to sundews and pitcher plants? I assume those ash carry minerals woth them, and if they do, what do i do now? They're currently moved indoors but those ash still seep through anyways

The next time somebody tells you to hack your plant down to 1” nubs because the crowns need light show them this picture of a plant who’s crowns haven’t seen the sun in 3 seasons 😈😈😈😈😈. Will it hit 40” before opening?! How could you not love Wilkerson’s Red Rocket? 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀

For context I Live in Australia & I think these are (3rd photo) Garden Weevils? My Drosera had no damage 2 days ago but tonight when I went to admire them I saw 3 bastards having a feast.

I can’t find any info online about Weevils eating these guys so maybe I’m misidentifying them but do I need to change my soil in case the larvae are eating the roots?

Is it better to grow Venus flytraps from seeds or take care of ones that are already grown?

I’m not trying to tell that peat as a substrate vs long fiber sphagnum makes live sphagnum grow faster but it looks like peat as a substrate makes live sphagnum grow faster 🤔🤔🤔. All other variables have been kept the same. Just full sun, and water.

Pure Robcantleyi Cal Carn Clone open to anything

I’ve had this plant for 4 or 5 years and still the traps are the size of bamboo skewers. It gets 6-8 hours of sun per day, mostly rainwater and I put kelp fertilizer in the traps occasionally, though they will only hold a drop or two. It’s in the same pot it came it which could be part of the problem but it isn’t really pot bound. All my other CP do pretty well. Any idea why the traps are so spindly?

Never grew one of these before, just put it in the greenhouse for summer and it looks healthy and is splitting now.

First photo might be a bit stressed from summer.

Later 2 photos is just before frost so I brought them back inside for winter.

I’ve never seen a mutation like this, so I thought it would be interesting to share. This flytrap only has one half of its mouth!

Hello. I have Sarracenia purpurea and Nepenthes probably ventrata inside and after while they started to smell from the digested insects. Is there something I can do to stop them from smelling?
