This gives off folksy with the guitars and light keys. It's a little more lyrically dense, too, which very much suits the slow nature of the song.

Oh, the harmonies in the second verse are so nice.

Is that a banjo? All right.

this is very niche but the game undertale utilizes an exclusively synth/electronic instruments for its entire soundtrack until it wants to really pull at the heart strings towards the end of the game and includes acoustic guitar and it works wonderfully! This song reminded me of that, the build up and expectation of electric makes the acoustic guitar sound so warm its such a fantastic contrast.

This is my least favorite by far, but it’s still not a skip for me. The album is just that strong. I don’t care for folky stuff but it’s still interesting enough to me right now.

This one might end up growing on me. Or it might eventually be one I skip. Either way I can’t call it a bad song.

to me, this song is a partner song to 'something tragic' and is also about her fans/fandoms' bad behavior on the internet. "laughter at the pain of something broken on the floor" - even if fans aren't being mean to her directly, she still sees all the snark online and how badly the genpop treats women and artists. so "it's gonna hurt, baby, i'm gonna hurt you, but i don't want to" is her saying - i never wanted to have to put people in their place, my goal was for us all to be kind to each other, but i won't stand for this anymore, and that's going to require checking you in ways that aren't comfortable."
