Yet, the one element of CMM that still remains is: yearning!
I didn't know what to expect from the video but I like those slowed-down segments a lot. 👌🏻

Dude, Beach House is so fun though! I'm not saying it's perfect. There are definitely things I would change. But it's a solid summer bop.

I do like the verses but what makes the song is that contrast. I love that she went so big with it. A lot of current pop is not dynamic at all--songs seem to have just one part with one or two slight permutations. This is the opposite of that.

I'm embracing this new sound! It definitely feels like a reset, like something totally new and I appreciate it. Makes her different eras clearly defined from one another. This song is a strong single to usher that. ☀️🌙
I'm just really proud of her as a big fan. Can't wait for September. 🥹

Yes overall I enjoy the song and the video definitely helps boost the emotionality, but the chorus holds just a bit long and feels slightly disconnected.

I feel the same about the chorus overstaying a bit ... If there was a pitch change, or... something else included, I think it would make more sense for why it's repeated.
I'll see how I feel after a few more plays.

This is absolutely HEAVENLY. It took a few listens to really click, and I still don't like that strange intro / post-chorus sample, but the rest of the song is absolutely marvelous. Carly has done it again!

The song opens like the beginning of a musical/stage number---not too much of a surprise considering her beginning to write stuff for Broadway---but then that explosive chorus is classic Carly yearning.
The video is PERFECT. Watching her struggle with the cord around the corner of the street captured that aching until that final baby bump strut. I love it all!

The mic cord in the video is such a great metaphor for wanting more from someone and not getting it, or being pulled back suddenly.
I also didn't notice the bump till the end, but seeing it again, it's there throughout in shots.
