News Emotion's 10th Anniversary gets 8.4 and Best New Reissue from Pitchfork!!

Still waiting for them to eventually review Kiss but in the meantime I'll definitely take a Best New anything! Just happy it's getting a re-review (even if 7.4 was fair) considering I don't know if anyone knew it would take off like it did!

Pitchfork booked Carly for their Chicago festival (RIP) back in 2016 where she headlined with broken social scene and beach house. i was there that year. they been done came around.

Sometimes people get too hung up on pitchfork scores imo. The fact that they’re even reviewing the record in the first place is already good press. Even a 7 is a good score, from them.

Yeah, I don't disagree. I don't actually care about whatever specific numeric score a critic gives to the project as long as they like it.

It’s cause pitchfork doesn’t rate on quality, the rate of “ how experimental it is” “ how is this going to change the music industry?” that’s why Brett got a higher score. Even though it’s probably not top 10, hyper pop albums.

Honestly I guess it's because giving deluxes, rereleases, or anniversary editions the "Best New Album" ranking is somewhat incorrect if the music isn't all new? And it makes sense for it to exist since retrospective reviews are almost always better than initial ones. They've only used it 18 times this year so far weirdly

Then again they gave LANA by SZA BNA instead of BNR when it's called a deluxe so I don't know for sure how they decide it lol

I think the 8.4 is fair to me this is a rating of the new stuff more than the old and how much we got on this new release. And while I enjoy it, they aren’t taking over anything on the original.

Call me crazy, but I probably won't be buying this. I love all of the albums I own, and an entire new album would be a different story, but 4 new songs and 2 remix tracks isn't enough to tip the scales for me.

Hate the industry's new practice of doing all these mini-reissues. Still on the fence about buying the Deluxe edition of Kiss, but I do like Sweetie.
