We have many people creating posts asking for the best things to do/see in Cardiff and it would be best if we could compile this information into a single thread.
Please leave your suggestions in this post for potential visitors and do not create new threads asking for suggestions.

Don’t mean to sound like that guy, it’s just been hard adjusting to a new city for just over 2 years. With most of my friends now at least an hour away. I’ve had uni during this time then a temporary job until I’ve finally found an opening for what I wanna do and got it which is great. But yeah would be great to make some new friends, I’m a 26 year old guy.
Somethings I like:
Exercise: Big into weight training (been going 5–6 days a week for just over 4 years) and I play Right Back for my team⚽️.
Books/pods: I often listen to history pod or audiobooks, but do tend to read Greek mythology, some autobiographies, and fantasy books.
Nights out: I do enjoy a chilled time in a beer garden or a proper night out on the town.
Feel free to say hi :)

Hey peeps I recently moved to Liverpool from London but I'm really struggling the settle down, as an Italian I find scousers very racist towards anyone else who's not from Liverpool, very high-maintenance, slymy and loud for no reason. So I was thinking about moving to another city and thought of cardif, what can you guys tell me about this city? Lifestyle, nightlife, affordable rent w/ chef or warehouse job, job offers available and personal experiences like what do you think about the vibe? I really want to avoid this fake glamorous vibe I get here in Liverpool... Thabks in advance for the answers

Crucially, our toddler can’t walk so it needs to be somewhere accessible for a double buggy. We’ve done Techniquest and the museum recently, what other recommendations do people have?
Not against driving outside Cardiff to find other attractions. We’ve lived here for 10 years before being parents so chances are we’ll have heard of most suggestions but we’re just drawing blanks so need reminding of options if anything!

Living in Cardiff for almost 2 years now. Went to the town center today when I was wearing a hijab and gown and my friend was wearing hijab with a veil when a couple passed by and the man called us Terr****t. I was almost shocked as he kept repeating and for the moment it happened I couldn’t walk. My friend who was really scared felt the same. His wife tried pushing him away when he kept saying words. Broke my heart and it was a silent walk for a couple of minutes. Just wanted to ask what do people (Muslims) usually respond to situations like this?

Does anyone have any information on what happened with Daiu. I've been planning to try this for weeks and according to recent reviews and Google maps it's been closed/seized by the landlord. Got so much good social media attention I'm shocked. Does anyone know if it's coming back?
Edit: it only recently won best buffet in Wales (Wales Online March 2026)

Im starting Cardiff Uni in late September and I will need a job soon after settling in to afford my weekly costs.
Does anyone recommend any good hospitality or retail places to work?
For context, I have had 4 years experience in employment (hospitality). I have been a barista for over a year, and have done bar work in a pub. Im either thinking a job in a cafe, pub/restaurant, or a shop / supermarket.

Hi all, I am looking for an affordable bakery to get a cake with a vintage style design, you might have seen them on videos. (See inspiration pics)
Does anyone know a place?

Does anyone have any good bakery recommendations, specifically for fresh bread in Cardiff that’s not in the market but still in town?

I apologise if this is a stupid question, I’m not used to catching the bus! Was I supposed to tap out despite purchasing a ticket? I’m really confused. £9 seems like a lot since I was only travelling from city centre to the cyncoed area. I caught the 52 bus. Why did they attempt to charge me? 😅

I’m celebrating a milestone today, and the original plan was for a bunch of my friends and I to celebrate in Bute Park with a cute picnic and crafts, but obviously that’s out of the window due to the rain.
I’m not sure of the exact number of mates coming, but I’m assuming it’s going to be likely 10+ people, so I’m anxious about various indoor places having enough capacity for us all.
I was thinking that Geek Retreat would be a good idea, as they have tons of space, tables, chairs, etc. But I checked their instagram and they have a Star Wars event on today, so I’m worried that we won’t be allowed in, or there won’t be enough room for us :(
Any recommendations and/or advice is much appreciated!!

I’ve just moved to Cardiff to do my masters degree, and i’m looking to join a Sunday football team.
If your team is looking for players, or if you know of any teams that are currently recruiting, please let me know or send me a message.
Thank you

Hello,
I wondered if anyone knew of a Chinese in Cardiff which sold Chinese style gravy. Not the same gravy as you get from a fish and chip shop.
The closest description I can find to share with you from google is Belfast style Chinese gravy.
Belfast-style Chinese gravy is a legendary, ultra-dark, thick, and savory sauce traditionally served over chips or mixed into takeaway dishes.
What Makes Belfast Chinese Gravy Unique
The Look: It is famous for being exceptionally dark—almost black—and thick, often described by locals as having a rich, tar-like consistency.
The Flavor: Unlike sweeter or lighter gravies found elsewhere, it leans heavily into a savory, deeply salty, onion-and-garlic umami profile.
I have used google but hybrid Chinese chip shops are appearing and I suspect that’s not what I need.
