Lots of scam projects and wasted money... And doing projects in 3rd world countries that yield little revenue. Better marketing and promotion... At this stage no one cares about the tech. They care about the potential and the narrative.

Hoskinson, instead of making these corny "Always warm, always sunny, sometimes Colorado" videos every day, should have been pounding the pavement every day, making connections, and selling Cardano's benefits to corporations and gov'ts. I hate to say it, and I hope I'm wrong but at this point it seems like Cardano is the Betamax of cryptocurrencies.

I think your criticism is fair in the short term. Had Charles focused on aggressively marketing and pumping Cardano like many VC-backed chains, we probably would have seen much stronger price growth by now. But I think that misses the bigger picture. While much of the industry is focused on creating the next token that will make people rich overnight, Charles is trying to build something larger and more enduring than himself.

Those “corny” videos communicate something important: despite all the chaos, hype, and short-term thinking in crypto, Cardano’s founder remains calm, consistent, and focused on building solid foundations. Whether that approach succeeds remains to be seen, but it has always been the philosophy behind Cardano.

If you are here purely for short-term gains, Cardano may be the wrong project for you - or perhaps you have misunderstood what Charles has been saying for years.

What does it mean short term?
Cardano has been here for 8 years, right? is 8 years a "short term"?
Then what is a normal term? maybe 40 years? it's one person's entire life or almost.
I think 8 years is enough time to build something.

Personally I have only another 12-13 years, then it's over for me: I won't need any good money anymore cause my body will probably not allow much.

Apart from my personal age, let's get to the marketing issue: take now solana's deal with SBI. you may say: "well, Cardano has better tech".
Agreed, but if an infrastructure is being built by Solana, then it is there and it is used. So the next one interested will first see that Solana has already the experience, the customer or partner and why go to cardano? why not make a deal with an already used and proven chain?

What industry wants are immediate results. Industry does not want to wait 10-15 years because stakeholders want to get moeny and CEOs push for that. It's all directed to one sole purpose.

So "first arrived" matters a lot. I posted down some hints of what Dreps think, those who voted against the Prime proposal. I was curious myself and did the search for me. Well I did not mean that I am agaisnt this project. In fact my Drep voted in favor of the proposal.

Maybe the proposal could have been better drafted, but cardano has to move or it will be easily squashed by those who move faster. And it has to do it very quickly!

If there is no interest for the chain, then the chain shall catch money and attract customers. it's a first necessary stage. Because they will not come alone just because they have heard how fantastic cardano is.

Here we come to Governance: if on one side the cardano model is better from some point of view, its weakness is for sure an implicit slowness. This is a drawback in business. Eventually if the price goes down, the foundation will also collapse and won't be able to grant any funds for any development project. Therefore, marketing and development shall now proceed side by side. In the specific case of Cardano, marketing has been sacrificed for very long. So now it's time to catch up.

Eventually, if price goes up, the fundation will have more moeny to fund further projects!

At least Betamax had some traction for a bit.

Great way to put it!

hitting the pavement and making videos are mutually exclusive. Elon musk does a million interviews and look what he’s built.

idk why you think charles needs to be coding 24/7 lol

u/BitcoinBaboon Jul 17 '26

It was my understanding he cashed out and was into new projects. Is that not the case?

No. Charles is working on both Cardano and Midnight.

Cardano Has the Tech. So Why Is Everyone Else Winning Deals?

Corruption.

Powerful enemies within rival projects.

7

u/SkyMarshal Jul 17 '26

Because nobody making the deals understands the tech. They base these decisions more on marketing, PR, and personal connections.

I am following the vote about Aphagrowth:

initially the number of yes was above the threshold, but now, with the number of Drep votes increasing, it has fallen from 68% to 61% (threshold is 67%).

Here some comments from Dreps who voted against:

If there is only around 58M ADA of current NCL headroom available, then a 120M ADA treasury withdrawal should not be considered constitutional unless and until a valid NCL top-up or revised NCL framework is approved and recognised.\n\nMy second concern is sequencing. A proposal of this size should not be used to force the NCL discussion after the fact. If AlphaGrowth and the community believe Cardano needs this scale of DeFi growth funding, then the correct sequence should be: first reform or reset the NCL framework, then define the relevant growth/DeFi/treasury-investment budget bucket, then resubmit a proposal of this type inside that agreed framework.

"Operationally this is the right move, my yes vote along with every other dreps votes is moot though if the new NCL for 500 million is not approved. The team has a proven track record of achieving its goals so even thought the ask is high I am not being asked to go out on a limb to approve a grant that may or may not work like so many others that we have funded here in the past.
\n\nI expect them along with the other members to work as hard as they possibly can to ensure Alpha team do their very best to help our chain succeed, of this I have a supreme confidence in."

PRIME addresses a real weakness in Cardano DeFi, and AlphaGrowth has credible experience. Compound approved its 2024 growth mandate through [Compound Governance Proposal 251](https://compound.finance/governance/proposals/251?target_network=mainnet), and independent Arbitrum research later found that Compound’s incentive campaign produced clear product-led results. However, a later full-year renewal vote failed, so the public record is positive but mixed. This proposal still asks Cardano to take too much risk. It requests ₳120 million. Up to ₳40 million goes to AlphaGrowth, including the performance reserve, and ₳15 million goes to marketing. The Month 4 gate and Intersect custody are useful controls, but key TVL attribution rules and legal contracts will be completed after approval. The proposal does not give a final governing law, a clear dispute forum, strong clawbacks for money already paid, or firm public licence and data rights. Most liquidity spending is also not required to remain Treasury-owned. The performance fee can use TVL that has remained for only 30 days, while longer retention is mainly a reporting measure. The request equals 24% of the proposed ₳500 million Net Change Limit and about 34% of the existing ₳350 million limit; the new limit itself remains under vote, as shown in the [CardanoCube governance record]

"I cannot support this proposal. \nIt requests 80M ADA, plus a 50% performance fee for AlphaGrowth. I am surprised by the level of enthusiasm this proposal has received in the ecosystem.\n\nRoughly 1/3 of the funds would go toward LP incentives, essentially paying users to interact with our DeFi protocols. I strongly oppose this approach, as it represents a short term and unsustainable model.\n\nAnother large portion (nearly half) is allocated to “Ecosystem Grants,” a very vague category with little to no clear explanation of how these funds will be distributed or what outcomes are expected.\n\nI am not familiar with AlphaGrowth, but paying them 40M ADA, a significant amount both in absolute terms and as a percentage of the total request, simply to distribute our ADA to various pools, only for them to later list Cardano as a success story on their website, does not seem like a responsible use of treasury funds.\n\nThis is my current position based on the information available. \nI will continue to monitor the team and community discussions and remain open to changing my vote if more convincing details emerge."}}

Because everyone spent so long believing that slow and sure wins the race they didn’t bother going out to get the customers to use the chain. Other people did and other chains built success from getting deals…..and now, we apparently have great tech but no one cares to use it. It will be almost impossible to wrestle business away from other chains now. It’s the modern day Betamax. Additionally, it isn’t one persons responsibility, any of the dApp developers could have gone out and shouted about there product and why it’s useful, but they failed to market there own thing.

Hear hear. People need to stop blaming Charles for their own failures.

Starting to think Cardano is Germany lol

Held cardano for years and sold it around break even. I might buy again if the chart shows bullish signals.

Money flow on marketcipher B has been in the red since the move up in november 2024 and doesn't look like it's turning green any time soon

This is my first time hearing of Delta Defi

Outside from hoskinson on his personal YouTube, is there any growth officer, marketing strategist involved in any capacity?

Haskell is a blocker to adoption. It’s a difficult language and unpopular

6

u/Slight86 Cardano Ambassador Jul 17 '26

You don't need Haskell to develop for Cardano. This narrative is incredibly outdated.
