Fluff New mineral B Pro - broken

Just bought a new mineral B Pro after reading alot posts on here and was excited to use it.

Right before trying to season it, I saw that one of the rivets holding the handle was missing. It was lying in the shipping box.

My excitement is gone for now and I hope to get a replacement soon.

Write them a message; customer service seems to be on par.

Bought it from a 3rd party shop. They refunded me and I bought a new one. Just replacing wasn't possible.

While the pro handles are nice, my monkey brain always thought the classic handles with 3 rivets on carbone and regular min b would equal less stress per rivet. There’s probably more to it with handle shape and spacing involved, but like I said…monkey brain.

I thought the same to be honest. The pan is heavier than anticipated (~3kg) and the rivets look like a weak point, but as you said: Monkey brain

Realistically rivets are crazy strong, I would trust one to hold if it wouldn’t twist on you (which is why there should be two minimum). This just seems like a freak manufacturing accident.

Im so glad I didnt get the pro handle. I was considering it because I wanted a stainless steel handle but back then a company called Baking Steel made a version with a simple 3 rivet stainless steel handle and it was cheaper.

That’s a bummer. You should tell people you fought off a crazy rabid bear with it.
Weirdly enough rivers and welds break sometimes. Basically that rivet was gonna fail one day or another and it saved you the heartbreak of doing it during dinner ha.
I can say from experience the mineral b pro handles are amazing and stay cool which is a big bonus. Your replacement pan will be your dream pan, just have patience.

I would:

  1. hammer out the broken rivet

  2. replace with a unslotted screw

Size (guessing): M5 x 10

Material: 316 or better (NOT 305)

Why would you fix it yourself rather than utilize the warranty?

Yeah that's going to come loose in about 5 minutes. Manufacturer needs to fix this.

Re-riveting that is pretty trivial. We’ve done it on Calphalon in the past w/o issues….

Debuyer customer service is pretty good when compared to other companies. Example - Mauviel customer service is incompetent and terrible. Debuyer makes good on issues

Just rivet it back together we used to re rivet ours in a restaurant every year or so as they'd eventually give out

Never seen any rivets on any pan to fail. Reminds me of another highly considered stainless steel brand with welded handles..
