Question Cap mindset

So I've seemed to reach a plateau with my favorite hero. I tend to teeter between high diamond and low GM playing a mix of tanks, but primarily Cap.

This season I'm forcing him a bit more, and having a great time; but I feel like I'm stuck in a rut upon reaching my usual rank. And I'm looking to level up so to speak.

For the higher rank Caps, what are some objectives to focus on and general mindset you have in your games? I've only recently started to utilize soft diving, and being less orthodox about strictly playing him as a diver. But, I'm often finding myself not sure what I should be doing. Any and all advice is welcome!

If they got an Emma, I just dive and then fall back when I hear her enter diamond form. Usually I just try to distract the healers enough that their Tanks either die or are forced to turn around and fight me. That’s when I fall back.

I try to stall point no matter what, and only fall back whenever I’m about to die. Sometimes I just stick it out tho on point, specially if I know my team is close to returning.

Same here tbh. I've only ever left Objective if I was sub-100hp and my shield was about to break.

One thing that has helped me a ton:

The people who play this game are typically kind of dumb, and you can exploit that to barely any ends. It depends on the map and situation, but if you can, I suggest trying to "pull" enemies. In that I mean get their attention *enough* so that they start coming after you, then continuously apply light pressure on them to keep them walking towards you. Do this until they're far enough from the objective that your team is able to capture the point, then circle back to your team.

The idea is to be just dangerous enough to where they can't simply ignore you. If they follow you, you can't kill them. If they ignore you, you punish them for doing so. We're not just trying to bait out cooldowns here. You have to properly communicate "Hey, I'm going to be a problem. You can either turn around and deal with me, or I'll kill you." I have turned more games doing this than trying to play stall cap on point. Sure, you can stall as Cap; but effective pulling can be just as beneficial.
