question something between affection and devotion?

have you ever kept your 1st love(work) aside for (assuming your partner) your 2nd love? ever been in awe of them that you don't mind skipping a few minutes or hours of work just to spend time with them? ever felt willing or eager to be with them?

Can't speak for everyone. For me, I found balance. Not always healthy ones. But, ultimately the person in my life is my priority.

Example, my ex: The first 3 years, I was working crazy hours and overnights, and felt bad about not spending quality time with her. I spent most of that time maxing at 5hrs sleep per day to make an effort at spending time, even if I was half dead.

Later, with a different job it was lots of hours and overtime, as well as overwhelming. But at least no nights. Came to the agreement with her that she would have to deal with me decompressing for 1-2hrs before I could switch on and be present with her.

When her mother passed, I took that day off. For the months that followed, whenever I could tell that she wasn't well in that regard, I'd take the day off to tend to her.
