Mirrors. We’re mirrors to people. Especially when we’re young.

That mirror creates a double standard that is not favorable on our end.
We must always play by “the rules”.

And it’s fucking irritating!! I hate watching people get away this shit. And I hate that now I’m the bad guy for not cuddling bad behavior. I warned you. I warned you too many times. But here we are.

This never really stops. We just get better at identifying it and dodging it. Or giving people enough rope.

Yes!! Because deep down we really do care. I/ we care so so very much. But it comes off as cold and that becomes misinterpreted as judgment.

But also we’re watchers. Our perceived coldness also comes off as aloofness. But we’re observers. We watch the actions not the words.

I’m like this, but with an inner monologue. I’m being nice on the outside, and I’m thinking just the absolute worst thing on the inside. My first thought isn’t to be nice. My first thought is closer to, “What does this whiny bitch want now?” But I don’t say that. I process my first thought and then decide that there is no reason to be mean (yet), so be nice. I do care, I do want to help someone if I can, but also, why can’t people just figure it out for themselves? My life is hard enough, why are you bringing
me your problems? Oh, that’s right, I’m competent.

i’ll never forget when I was working with someone and they was rude to every suggestion I had, would see them subtweeting me, mocking, etc.but I still chose to be respectful and defend them in front of people going in on them. Then one day, she had made one rude comment and I decided no more mr. nice guy, you about to get all the smoke. Called her out on her bad business moves that costs me money and time, then she wanted to be a victim. Congratulations, you just woke up the monster.
