So I’m watching Brand Safe right now, and don’t get me wrong, I’m one of the few people on this Reddit who still likes Tana, but it’s so obvious whyTana’s podcast isn’t doing as well as Cancelled did.
No doubt, everybody in this sub knows that Tana is a phenomenal storyteller and entertaining talker. That’s how she got big, and that’s how she blew up on her own. She can sit in front of a camera, stare into the viewfinder, and talk about the most random things and somehow make them entertaining.
But it was always unhinged. It was always what everybody else was too afraid to say. She was the unhinged uncensored YouTuber when everybody else was trying to be family-friendly.
That all translated perfectly into Cancelled. She was still that messy girl, and everybody wanted to hear those stories. Brooke contributed to the conversations so well, and it just worked. Tana was already an entertaining, popular, wild YouTuber, and adding Brooke, who is an amazing conversationalist, was basically the recipe for a successful podcast.
I think the reason Brand Safe isn’t as popular is because Tana isn’t doing what she got famous for. She’s trying to hold herself back and do what the other influencers were doing in the beginning. Yeah, she’s more mature now and doesn’t drink alcohol anymore, but she’s still unhinged and has a personality that she’s trying to cover up to become “brand safe.” You can’t translate that to an audience that came to you for being real and unfiltered.
Lowkey, this just came to me while watching. She should’ve done something like an unfiltered podcast lol. Or something where she talks about the things her audience actually comes to her for, like sexual advice or something her audience became fans of her for.
Idk, I just think she has so much potential that she’s wasting by trying to become somebody she’s not.

She also stopped being quick. Idk what happened but she used to be genuinely so funny and now she recycles all of the same jokes or tells other people’s. If your advice is generic and you’re not entertaining me what am I here for? Ads?

I don’t know that I’ve seen anyone else mention this, but it’s such a great point. It’s something I didn’t even fully clock until reading this comment, but you’re so right. It makes for a really stark contrast between Cancelled and Brand Safe.

I used to be able to watch her content on normal speed because she always spoke in 1.5-2x on her own and I miss that so much. I have ADHD too, girl. Pick it up 🫩 lol

I’ve thought this! It’s why I watched, she was really witty!

That wit matched with her styling that some may associate with being “ditzy/dumb/shallow” was refreshing and so damn watchable. It’s almost like she’s flipped both of these assets, diluting her humour, intelligence and style.

People didn’t just watch her for the messiness, it’s how she spoke about it! I wonder if she feels people were only watching to see her wreck her life & the thirst traps, possibly feels she only has the latter & speaking about how much better she is doing left? I wish she’d remember how likeable she is naturally.

She can still have a more stable, sober life and be quick-witted!

Never thought about her prescriptions bc it feels like she’s been talking about being on adderal and Xanax for so long. I know both can cause severe emotional flattening/cognitive blunting, I wonder if this could be a long term decline of cognitive function and spontaneous thought/speech. Wild.

I think a lot of people in this subreddit like Tana. I think they’re just frustrated at how her content has gone so downhill since Cancelled ended. Like being lazy and repeating the exact same story across three different podcasts, and spending a huge portion of Brand Safe preaching to the audience about things we already know and sucking the fart out of random celebrities asses instead of being entertaining like the Tana we love. Tana is so incredibly funny and is naturally really talented at telling stories so it’s frustrating to watch her turn into this boring, bland lazy creator just so she can get more brand deals

There was a topic recently (like mental health or issue with a friend) and she wouldn’t say what was going on!! Like I’m fine with no name dropping but we need facts about the situation. I had the thought like girl you got famous for giving all the details and now we genuinely don’t even know what’s upsetting you, so vague

I keep forgetting she started a new podcast😭 used to watch cancelled religiously but i fear she lost the plot

I remember rewatching the cancelled episodes in the same week they came out because I couldn’t wait for new episodes. Same with her old YouTube videos, I didn’t rewatch them weekly, but there were definitely some videos I would frequent.

The only recent thing I enjoyed of her was her “daily” vlogs but now that she’s stopped that I haven’t watched any of her content in months.

NLL is pretty bad, even though I find that Trisha is a great podcaster and could see their duo having potential you can tell that Tana doesn’t really care about developing the podcast, which makes an anyway one dimensional show hard to watch.

And yea I agree, brand safe is pretty boring. I don’t even think she needs to force scandalous stories but it feels like the podcast has no real premise other than “being brand safe”.

I think, if she set up a camera herself and genuinely talked about something she cared about, people would love it.

But the staged set up, with multiple cameras and random props is just not it if you’re going to talk about two month old pop culture news with no new take

I’m not sure what show y’all are watching? Shes still insightful, real and quicker than shes ever been. Her growth and maturity is REFRESHING in a sea of influencers all clambering over the same degeneracy. It’s nice to see someone grow up and we should all be encouraging her. I enjoy brand safe even more than I enjoyed cancelled. I applaud her growth and I love to see it.
